This was emailed to the Coaches and some supporters of our 2023 Iowa State Trap Championship. Sunday June 11,2023
I hope you all slept well last night.
Thanks to all participants for your fantastic performance and plain hard long work before, during and after June 10, 2023.
First and most of all: It went very well. Better than we had hoped for, at least partly by Great Planning and organizing. Mike T gets a big chunk of that credit.
Second: The weather- could not have been better Let's credit Beff for that
Third: All the hiking and carrying guns and ammo to the ends of the fields with the right squads in place. Jeff and his wagon = perfect.
Fourth: Positioning of the car / vans were amazing: Kindt's car? at Field 35, Darcey for the # 2 trap location, and I'll take credit for # 17 gathering location and timing.
Fifth: right squad, right field, at the right time Susan and Beth were major players
Sixth: Navigation and convoy control to, at and from the front: Steve Stone. Rear Guard clean up, turn off control supervision Kris and Ami.
Sixth: long range driving: My van recorded 728 miles Fri/Sat. Steve, Darcey, Mike and Jeff until late last night.
Seventh: the Athletes they did pretty well at being in the right place at the right time. Parents, coaches and supporters take that credit and the athletes were rewarded by some excellent scores. Ami was our number one supporter / parent / teenager supervisor. {I hope each of you was personally thanked by at least one athlete or parent.
Eighth: You Coaches! for being cooperative, in good spirits, doing extra stuff, taking on tasks to help others, keeping up with changes despite poor sleep, aching bodies and in several cases just plain OLD BODIES.
From me: Thanks to all for a great job well done. It was hard. But to me it was very rewarding. Thanks, Susan, for keeping me entertained and awake for the drive both ways.
Let's have a Postseason, Ponderosa, awards ceremony, potluck, senior farewell and maybe a beer after.
