Lee took our son and some friends skiing in January 2020. On day 2 of the trip he had a bad fall and really messed up his face. He was miraculously able to get up and ski to the ER at the base. The doctor there suggested he see a surgeon in Glenwood Springs - so he drove himself (and his
de-gloved face (google it)) the hour to Mount Sopris Plastic Surgery Center. I was back in Atlanta with who was keeping me company during round 2 of chemo. I got a call in the afternoon from Dr. Jennifer Butterfield telling me she was going to operate on Lee that evening and she would call when it was over. Several hours later she called to say all went well, but he was low on Oxygen and would need to stay at the lower altitude for a few days and stay on Oxygen.
Fast forward to today and you would never know Lee had 80 stitches in his face after that fall. Dr. Butterfield and her assistant Nancy did an amazing job. Lee and I stopped at their office on our way to Fruita so we could thank them and show them how well Lee recovered and how good he looks!
We walked in and asked the receptionist if the doctor was “in.” She asked who we were and why- Dr Butterfield must have been close by because she heard Lee describe who he was she busted through the door to see us!
We are so happy we got to express our gratitude to Dr. Butterfield and her team. So of course we gave her a shirt!
