This doesn’t happen very often in our program, so want to be sure to highlight this amazing accomplishment. Cadet Alexander Dillon had an amazing first year in JROTC. Before graduating this year, he received a nominations from Senator John Hickenlooper to the Merchant Marines and from Congressman Jeff Hurd to the United States Military Academy (West Point). Cadet Dillon recently accepted his appointment to West Point and will be leaving in just a few weeks. We congratulate him and his family and know he is well on his way to becoming a great commissioned officer. Looking forward to more years with his two siblings who are also in our program.

Memorial Day - one of the most important days of the year. Most teenagers probably enjoyed their time off doing fun activities not thinking twice about it. Not this group of Cadets - they realize they are part of something bigger than themselves. Cadet Ryan Sarno sang the National Anthem and played Taps. Cadet Nola Fitzgerald gave remarks, and sang Amazing Grace. Cadets Hayden Everett, Connor Kennedy, Alexa Najera, Sarisha Bello, Nola Fitzgerald, Ethan Thomson and Darian Davila-Zarate performed a 3 shot volley (21 Gun Salute). Many of the Cadets never shot a weapon before and they overcame their fears to make this happen and honor our fallen.

Awesome job today recognizing those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and thank you to the Glenwood Springs Elks and American Legion for ensuring this event continues.

Today our a Flag Detail presented a flag to Tami McSwain to honor her 24 yrs educating our youth. She has touched the lives of many in our school - and many who are also Cadets, including her son who was - prior Squadron Commander .mcswain. She has held the ground with standards and discipline with our youth and helped our instructors navigate the intricacies of high school life after military life.
Congrats to you and your family in this next chapter.

PRANK ALERT! Many people think our JROTC program is all serious and business - but we also love to have fun. Work hard play hard and never take anything too serious.

Cadet Ethan Thomson just got some bad news that turned into some good news really quick! Such a good sport. Congrats on your selection to be our next Squadron Commander!

Long day but fun day - Denver Zoo and then a Rockies Win! First time to the zoo for some and first time at a professional sporting event for others. First JROTC field trip for some newer Cadets and new bonds were formed - that’s what it’s all about!
