Suzy first joined because her husband did... but she quickly found her own reason to stay. 💪

Since joining Village, everyday activities have become easier- from carrying groceries, getting up and down from the ground, and walking!
Exercise has gone from something she dreaded to something she genuinely enjoys.

Her only regret? Not starting sooner.

Now, she’s proud to be building healthier habits and showing her kids what it looks like to prioritize your health at every age. ❤️

Researchers can predict how long you’ll live... by squeezing your hand.

A study published in The Lancet followed 139,691 people across 17 countries over four years.

Their finding?

Grip strength was a stronger predictor of death from cardiovascular disease than blood pressure.

Not connected to it. Stronger than it.

Every 5 kg decrease in grip strength was associated with a 17% higher risk of death from any cause... and a 9% higher risk of stroke.

Here’s a rough benchmark for where you want to be:
Men over 50: 35–40 kg of grip strength Women over 50: 20–25 kg

No dynamometer? Try this right now.

Find a pull-up bar. Hang from it. Time yourself.

30 seconds is a solid minimum. 60+ seconds means you’re in good shape. Under 15 seconds... this post is for you.

Here’s why grip predicts so much...

It’s not just about your hands. Grip strength is a proxy for total body muscle mass, neuromuscular function, and overall systemic health. It reflects how well your whole body is working.

Weak grip is rarely just weak grip.

The good news? Grip responds extremely well to training. Heavy deadlifts, pull-ups, farmer carries, the Ski Erg... these are in our 12 Movement Standards for exactly this reason.

You build grip by doing hard things with your hands. Consistently. Over time.

How long can you hang? Drop your time in the comments 👇

Think your fruit snacks are healthy? Think again…

These “gummy fruit snacks” aren’t as healthy as they sound…
they’re often packed with added sugars, artificial dyes, and more.

A better swap? 🍓
Try Solely gummies, BEAR fruit rolls, or make your own with gelatin + real fruit juice

137 studies. 30,000 people.

The American College of Sports Medicine just released their first major update to strength training guidelines in 17 years.

Here’s what actually matters:
For strength: ✔️ Lift at least 80% of your max ✔️ 2–3 sets per exercise ✔️ Train major muscle groups 2–3x per week ✔️ Full range of motion ✔️ Do your heavy lifts first

For power (the thing that keeps you from falling): ✔️ Moderate weight... 30–70% of your max ✔️ Move it as fast as possible ✔️ Jumps, explosive squats, med ball work ✔️ This is non-negotiable after 50

For muscle size: ✔️ Higher weekly volume... 10+ sets per muscle group per week ✔️ Slow the lowering phase down

The biggest finding of all?

The greatest gains come from moving from doing NOTHING... to doing SOMETHING.

Consistently. With enough effort. Week after week.

That’s the whole game.

This week we’re highlighting Oneida 💛

For over 5 years, O has been showing up and putting in the work. When she first started, she was dealing with low bone density, osteoporosis, and limited mobility... but she knew she wanted a better future, for herself and her grandkids.

Today, she has regained her mobility, rebuilt her bone density, and is doing things she couldn’t do before!

💪🏼 Shoutout to Coach Hannah for being there for here every step of the way :)
