:) It's interesting. The fire crews and forest service people are seeing unsettled conditions in areas of the Bridge Fire burn footprint, as soil, rocks, boulders, and trees still move around some 3 months later, and some bridges and roadways were damaged and are being repaired.
Big Pines at Angeles Crest Highway burned, and a lengthy section of the highway is in the burn footprint, all the way to Wrightwood and beyond. Stopping on the road in turn-outs and recreating in the forest in the closed areas is probably NOT a good idea. :) Seriously, you *could* die though probably not.
I think that the USFS closed the forest officially so that any bike rider or anyone recreating who gets killed by falling rocks or trees can't sue the Forest Service since the Forest Service can just show the Judge that the area was closed and the dead guy suing them knew it. :)
What's also interesting is that Los Angeles County no longer shows Highway 39 closed from Crystal Lake Recreation Area up to Angeles Crest Highway Vincent Gap area despite that section remaining closed. They removed that closure from their official web site even though the section remains closed. I imagine that that's a mistake!
