Milwaukee County Parks said approximately 100 newly planted trees were removed from a restoration project site without authorization. Here's what we know.

Recently a cluster of deflated balloons became tangled in one of the trees over the waterfall. Please reconsider using them. If you must, please properly dispose of them to protect our wildlife!

If you're planning a fall event at a picnic site at one of our Milwaukee County Parks, try to avoid using balloons to decorate a picnic site. While balloons are festive, they create a lot of problems for the environment, such as injuring wildlife, clogging waterways and adding more litter to the landscape. Plus, balloons can interfere with aviation and the electrical grid.

👉 Instead of balloons, consider donating a tree or a bench through our Park Market program. Because a donation lasts a long time and helps improve a park, a bench or tree donation is a great way to honor a loved one or special event.

Every tree and bench donation comes with a commemorative tag or plaque that can be engraved with a personalized message. And we'll work with you to make sure your tree or bench donation is placed in a park that has special significance to you and your loved ones.

Annual Spring Cleanup participation perk: We're proud to present this limited-edition “Side by Side, Stream by Stream” T-shirt, designed by Milwaukee-based illustrator and graphic designer Sam Hanson!

Sam attended Second City of Chicago’s sketch writing and improv training program. She has written and performed sketch and improv comedy across Chicago and Milwaukee since 2012.

In 2020, Sam opened her first e-commerce and pop up shop: Sam Hanson Doodle. She sells her sweatshirts, t-shirts, tea towels, totes, pins and prints at markets around Milwaukee and the Midwest. She’s also served as the Graphics + Marketing Assistant for Outpost Co-op Grocery Store since 2023.

Weed-Out season has begun! Friends groups are looking for help getting rid of invasive plants in our Milwaukee County Parks. Join them in their efforts to preserve and protect natural areas! All supplies will be provided. Wear sturdy work shoes or boots and work gloves.
