This week intense heat made conditions difficult, but the players showed no signs of giving up. Matches in this weather are especially demanding, lasting four to five hours and requiring constant warm-ups and sustained concentration. Mental and physical recovery was key.
Yesterday did not end with results as Team USA had hoped for at the FIFG FootGolf World Championship in Acapulco. Both the men’s match against Slovakia and the senior men’s match against France were hard-fought but ended in defeats. Our opponents were clutch in the final stretch, and they deserve congratulations for well-earned victories.
We faced two exceptional teams from nations where sport is also deeply valued. Our players are understandably disappointed, they are competitors who hate to lose, yet every opponent in every category praised Team USA’s sportsmanship.
The women’s category won their final game against Scotland yesterday morning. Today, in the Men category USA won the match vs. Honduras and in Senior Men category USA defeated Malaysia. Congratulations to the Captains and all the players, and thank you very much for representing us!!
