Follow for updates on the Glendale Youth Sports soccer program! We currently serve ages 3-12. We aspire to play in The Ohio Area State Tournament each fall.

We are part of the SAY Soccer national recreational soccer program in the Cincy Central "area".

I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend! Posts have definitely slowed down with the increase of activity, but next week’s games are attached in the pics. Registration has been a rollercoaster this fall but I think we’re finally locked, after 7 last-minute additions. We have 12 teams this fall: U4, U5, U6 Boys, U6 Girls, 2xU8 Boys, U8 Girls, U10 Boys, U10 Girls, U12 Boys, U12 Girls, and for the first time in years, U14 Boys. That’s thanks to more than 25 volunteers who are coaching our wonderful young athletes, the parents supporting them, and the Board that supports us. Of course our fields wouldn’t look so nice without the support of charitable funding and the hard work of our Village maintenance crew. Thank you all! And congratulations to our U12 Girls, who got an early start and are 2-0-1.

If you’re interested in helping in any way, let me know. The work that remains is primarily referee reminders and placing and collecting corner flags. And sharing schedule information with the community.

How I spent my weekend… inflated 24 soccer balls; prepped 6 equipment bags for pickup tomorrow with first aid kits, cold packs, balls, pump, cones, pinnies, goalkeeper gloves, and goalkeeper shirts; moved 2 goals from Washington Park to Village of Glendale Park (aka Summit Park) and 2 from Washington to Saunders; celebrated a friend’s birthday, swam with my girls at the pool, watched an FCC game with a friend, and watched Harry Potter 5 with my girls. Phew! 😅 But a shout out to Kate, who was a beast today, braving the heat through 3 hours of moving goals.

Thank you again to all the volunteers that helped bring our GYS Soccer Camp to life, serving over 50 kids! It takes a Village. Many of them will also be a part of the team enabling over 140 kids across 12 teams to participate in GYS Soccer ⚽️ this Fall. More to come on that later, but if you want to be part of that effort, let me know. I could use some urgent help with referee management, fields, and equipment.

What an amazing finish to our GYS Soccer Camp last night! It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of about 15 volunteers (Mike, Paul, Kim, Aaliyah, Sharon, Jamie, Naudia, Matt, Ana, Amberlee, Dominique, Tim, Adam, David, and Kyle). Thank you for helping provide this opportunity to over 60 community youth participants. And thank you to Princeton Coaches Kyle and Emma for hooking us up with Princeton Viking Varsity Boys and Girls helpers every night. They enriched the experience of our kids immensely.

Note: We don’t intend to replace Princeton Soccer Camp. We just wanted to help cover the gap year. Thank you!

We had a great time at Washington Park this evening on Day 1 of GYS Soccer Camp. Thanks to all the volunteers who prepped for this and made it happen! Fingers crossed that the weather holds out for us tomorrow. Otherwise, I’ll see everyone on Wednesday.

Happy Father’s Day! As I celebrate with my family, I would like to wish all of our GYS dads a Happy Father’s Day, especially our coaches, past and present!

As a quick update, our league deadline has been pushed back until July 22 for U8 Passers, U10 Wings, and U12 Strikers. The deadline for U14 Kickers is August 5 at Noon, just after middle school tryouts. Everyone should be activated from the waitlist by July 20 or at least hear from me.

We do have a few teams over the limit, but they are also getting close to having enough to split the teams into 2. U6 Dribblers (8/1/2020-7/31/2021) currently has 11. The max is 10 and we only need about 14 to feel comfortable splitting the team. Similarly, U8 Girls Passers (8/1/2018-7/31/2020) has 17 players registered. There is a max of 14. We would prefer to have 20 before we split. U8 Boys Passers (8/1/2018-7/31/2020) has 16 and is also close to splitting. U10 Boys Wings is at the limit of 14 and unlikely to have enough to split. U12 Boys and Girls Strikers and U14 Boys Kickers have enough players registered to have a team. U10 Girls Wings is in danger of not having enough (currently have 5 and need at least 9 total). U14 Girls Kickers will not likely have enough (currently only 2 and need 14 total).

Still a month to go until our Soccer Camp and the close of registration. If you’re still on a waitlist, don’t fret!

Only 5 or 6 GYS Spring 2026 soccer games left out of 54. Hopefully we can get them all in this week. Where does the time go?! Registration for Fall is already open! I’ll post an FAQ in the comments. We are switching to “Silver Matrix”. Many will have questions! 😉

Also, I’m excited to share one of my favorite moments of the season. One of our teams maxed out the first half goal differential early. With the head coach out of town, I had volunteered my services as a bench coach, mostly to keep shoelaces tied so the acting head coach could focus on managing the game. During the halftime break, I asked how many kids had NOT scored this season. Of the four that raised their hands, one really wanted that goal. I challenged the players to make that their mission for their next allowed goal. They came through with a couple of nice passes before this player launched a beautiful strong accurate shot from the right side of the box that cleared the goalkeeper and scorched the back of the net. With a team full of stars, it can be hard for some team players to shine. This player earned their moment and I could not have been more proud of the team! As it was two players I coached a couple of years ago that got the goal and the assist, it couldn’t have been sweeter. I love these kids!

Also, given Princeton isn’t hosting a Soccer Camp this summer, let me know if you’d be interested in helping coordinate something fun for our youth. We can spitball ideas and see if we can make something happen on relatively short notice. Meanwhile, I’ll be trying to figure out how to get our fall season in order.

Another beautiful day for soccer yesterday. While the scores were not all in our favor, all the kids had fun as far as I know. And they are learning and growing and making friends. 🤩 Our U12 Girls kept their win streak going with a 4-0 win over Sycamore. They are 6-0-0 on the season with 2 games remaining. Our U12 Boys held a tough Forest Park team to 1 goal in a 1-0 loss. Our U10 Boys, also undefeated, hosted Springdale in a 7-1 home win. Special thanks to Harrison Curtis for stepping in to ref on a day that none of our 7 regular refs were able to officiate. Our U10 Girls held a tough Finneytown team to no goals after Finneytown got off to a quick 3-0 start in the first half. Our U8 Girls lost a close game at Wyoming 2-1 and our U8 Boys fell to Forest Park 3-0. And I would be remiss if I left out our U6 boys and girls. They played Evendale with a lot of heart on Thursday and continue to grow. We hope all our athletes, including our Instructional kiddos, are learning and will be back in the fall!

Next weekend, 5 of our 7 teams will play their games at Washington Park. We are dubbing it “Glendale Spring Soccer Day” and will have concessions, including ice cream. It will also be picture day for our athletes. We hope our friends and neighbors will come out and support them.

Do we have any soccer referees out there who would be interested in making $50 for an hour of work tomorrow morning at 10am? All of my refs are unavailable (Hayden, Makenna, Sam, Amos, Lawrence, Mo, and David). If you would be interested but are not certified or not available tomorrow, please let me know. I am having a lot of trouble putting referees on the field this season and the kids’ experience is really hurting for it.

UPDATE: We have a referee! One of our wonderful community members who reffed for us a few years ago. Thanks all!
