The scale can jump 2, 3, even 5+ pounds after a holiday weekend. That does NOT mean you gained 5 pounds of body fat!

More carbs can mean more stored glycogen and water. More sodium can increase water retention. Add different meal timing, less sleep, travel, alcohol for some people, constipation and a change in your normal routine, and the scale can look VERY different for a few days.
So maybe DON’T weigh yourself Tuesday morning and immediately freak out, k?😏 Give yourself several days of your normal routine and check again next week 👍

And please don’t respond by starving yourself or doing hours of punishment cardio. Dramatically restricting food can leave you exhausted, hungry and more likely to swing right back into overeating.
Overeat. Restrict. Overeat. Restrict.
That’s the yo yo mentality that keeps people stuck.

The answer after a holiday weekend is actually pretty boring: eat normally, hydrate, strength train, move your body, sleep and get back to your routine.
No punishment. No five day “detox.” No panic.
Just get back to NORMAL💪

Labor Day weekend is here (no Monday classes!), but once it’s over, we’re right back to WORK!👊🔥 September is a fresh month and this is NOT the time to start coasting until the end of the year 🚫 There are still FOUR months left in 2026. That is a lot of time to get stronger, build better habits and make serious progress!

💪 Aim for at least 3 strength workouts this week. Monday being a holiday doesn’t mean the whole week has to be a wash. Look at your schedule NOW and decide which days you’re coming.

📲 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE book your classes at least 30 minutes in advance and arrive at least 5 minutes early for exercise demos.

🎯 New month means NEW PRs! Keep track of your starting numbers and give yourself something to work toward throughout September 💪

🧘 Feeling tight? Don’t forget you can book a 20 minute Intro Stretch & Foam Rolling Session with Ryan for $15!

🍫 FITFOODS REMINDER: Because we are closed Monday, your FitMousse and FitBite preorders will be ready for TUESDAY pickup!

Don’t turn one holiday into a week off, then a month off, then “I’ll start again in January”, K?😏 We’ve got four months left. USE THEM. 💚💪

Showing up is important. But if you’re frustrated with your results, it might be time to get honest about HOW you’re showing up...

Are you choosing weights that actually challenge you? Are the last few reps HARD? Are you trying to progress over time?
Or are you just completing the workout?

Good form. Challenging resistance. Progressive overload. That’s how you give your body a reason to change.
Don’t just go through the motions. TRAIN. 💪🔥

A holiday weekend does NOT mean you need to throw every habit you have out the window 🚫

Enjoy yourself. Eat the food. Sleep in. Relax. Have fun.
But there’s a huge difference between enjoying a long weekend and completely checking out for three days.

Keep some of your normal habits. Move your body. Drink your water. Eat some actual meals. Get your protein. Go for a walk.

Because coming back from a three day bender of no movement, crappy sleep, overeating and feeling like garbage is WAY harder than simply maintaining a few basic habits while still enjoying yourself.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to stop treating every holiday like an excuse to completely abandon the habits that make you feel GOOD.

Your daily habits still matter on the weekend. 💪

The more emotion you attach to working out, the easier it becomes to talk yourself out of it.
Stop asking, “Do I feel like working out today?”
Some days you’ll feel motivated. Some days you absolutely won’t. THAT'S NORMAL.
The goal is to make exercise something you DO, not something you constantly debate.
Put it on the schedule. Show up. Get your 30 minutes done and stop negotiating with yourself.

Pumpkin FitMousse is BACK 🎃💚 But this is about more than a fall flavor...

We created FitMousse because we wanted something that tasted like a treat but actually FUELS your body. Plant-based protein, real ingredients, no fake sugars, no seed oils AND under 180 calories.

And yes, there’s tofu in it. Soy has been demonized for YEARS, but the reality is very different from the internet myths. Tofu is a complete plant-based protein and a nutrient-dense food that can absolutely have a place in a healthy diet 👊

Eat your FitMousse for breakfast, post-workout, an afternoon snack, dessert, or whenever you need something satisfying! This is how WE eat and fuel, which is exactly why we created it 🫶

Current flavors:
🍫 Chocolate ➡️ PB2, coconut or dried cherry topping
🎃 Pumpkin

Order by Saturday at 11AM for Monday pickup! Keep them refrigerated for up to 7 days or freeze them for later. Message us to order ONE to try or stock your fridge and stay prepped all week!

“But you can squat WAY more than you can shoulder press.”
Yep. You absolutely can.

And that’s why a squat to shoulder press isn’t the exercise we’d choose if the goal was to maximize how much weight you can squat.
That’s not the purpose of it ⬇️

This movement asks your lower body to produce force, your core to stabilize and your upper body to finish the press, all while maintaining control and coordination.
Then we put you on a BOSU and add another challenge: balance and stability. 😈

There’s a time for heavy squats. There’s a time for focused shoulder presses. And there’s also a time for exercises that challenge multiple parts of your body to work together.
Not every exercise in your workout is trying to accomplish the same thing.
That’s why programming matters 😀

Frustrated because you’re working out but not seeing results? It might be time to get HONEST about how hard you’re actually working ⬇️

Showing up matters (of course!)... But if you’re using the same weights week after week and finishing 12 reps knowing you could have easily done 5 more, you’re probably not challenging your muscles enough to keep progressing.
If you can knock out 12 reps easily with good form, grab the heavier weight!
Maybe now you can only do 8 reps. GOOD.
Work until 8 becomes 9. Then 10. Then 12.
Then bump it up again.
That’s progressive overload.

You don’t need to sacrifice your form. You don’t need to grab the heaviest weight in the gym. But you DO need to stop automatically reaching for the weight you already know you can handle comfortably.

If you want your body to get stronger, you have to give it a reason to. So next workout, ask yourself: Am I actually challenging myself... or am I just completing the reps?

Your steps matter. But they are not a replacement for strength training 🚫

Walking is fantastic for daily movement, cardiovascular health and simply getting your body moving more. Keep doing it! But if your goal is to build and maintain muscle and strength as you get older, you need to actually strength train.

For most people, a great goal is at least 2 to 3 strength workouts per week, with 3 being the minimum we encourage our members to aim for consistently!

And you do NOT need to spend hours in the gym to do it.
That’s exactly why our workouts at Green Zone Fitness are 30 minutes. We intentionally program strength focused workouts that challenge your muscles, incorporate progressive overload and make it realistic to fit training into an already busy life.

You can get your steps. Walk the dog. Hike. Play pickleball. Do all the things you enjoy. Just don’t forget to BUILD MUSCLE too. Not sure where to start? Come try Green Zone Fitness. Your first class is FREE! 💚
