Ever wondered why Armenians throw money during the first dance?
It’s called “shabash”….. and while it might look surprising (and even turn some people off at first 😅), it actually has a really beautiful meaning when done right.
This tradition is all about blessing the couple with prosperity, abundance, and a strong start to their new life together. Every bill tossed onto the dance floor is a wish for happiness, success, and love.
And in many weddings, some of the money is also collected and shared with the musicians and staff as a gesture of appreciation.
When done with joy and intention, shabash is a beautiful gesture of generosity! 🤍
