Under The Float Guide Service Steelhead, Salmon, and Trout Guide Service We offer both driftboat and wading trips on the tributaries of Lake Ontario focusing on the Eastern basin.

We spend most of our time on the Salmon River, Black River, North and South Sandy Creeks but when the situation dictates we travel to where the fishing is the best.

Boy lots of talk about the tough steelhead fishing this fall. Yes the numbers are down but so many guys have lost their A game. I would compare the fishing now to what it was in the early 2000’s. Is it a grind at times, yes, should people be taking regular 0’s no. There are fish to be had our worst trip this fall we landed 5 fish most days we landed 7 to 12 fish a day. With a handful of days where we landed 15 to 25. It culminated with my boat hitting the Salmon River for the first time today (as most of you know I avoid at all costs the last few years)and had no problem getting into double digits. The fishing isn’t so easy a cave man can do it but if you have half a brain and can adapt to conditions there are fish to be had on any given day. There some people out there stealing people’s money that is for sure and over the next couple seasons it’s really going to show. The reduced crowds are nice keep stroking boys.

Well since everything is blown out and I will be hanging off the side of a tree for the next week dark to dark I figured I would share some fish from the last week. Fishing hasn’t been on fire but good enough to keep you interested even some double digit mornings in the mix.

That’s a wrap. 2019 salmon season is over for me. Onto better and brighter things. Look out trout here we come.

Due to an unexpected illness one of my main steelhead clients had to cancel several prime dates. My steelhead dates available are as follows.
October: 25,26,27,28,30
November: 12,13,16,17,21

Fishing has been great!!! Have openings Monday thru Thursday next week.

2019!!!! I’m Back!!! After taking a season to clear my head it’s time to make some happy people. I will be booking a complete fall season excluding all Saturday’s for Carlee’s soccer games. I have several late September and early October weekdays available to capture Kings with plugs and bobbers and eggs. I have limited weekdays and a few Sundays available for steelhead in my hidey holes for fall trout from mid October thru Christmas or when there is safe ice for me to chase Walleyes whatever comes first.
