I have known Jen Rulon for over 15 years. We met while both going through a USA Triathlon coaching clinic for youth. And ever since, she has been a positive presence in my life. She perseveres, has a fantastic positive outlook, and has excelled as an athlete, coach, friend, and NOW mentor.⁠

Having been an Endurance Coach and Personal Trainer for nearly two decades, I've always relied on the power of word of mouth to connect with incredible clients.⁠

Her wisdom and support have paved the way for success as I embark on the next chapter of my coaching career. Grateful beyond words for this opportunity and the growth it promises. 🏊‍♂️✨ Taking a dive into swim drills to fine-tune my form during the triathlon hiatus. Focusing on perfecting technique to conquer the open water next season. 💪 What's your favorite swim drill? Share your tips!

Catch-Up Drill:

Objective: Focuses on arm extension, hand placement, and a proper stroke cycle.

Ex*****on: Swim freestyle, but let one arm "catch up" to the other before taking the next stroke. The hand of the recovering arm touches the extended hand before it starts its next stroke. This drill promotes a full range of motion and helps develop a smooth, continuous stroke.

Zipper Drill:

Objective: Emphasizes body rotation and proper hip movement.
Ex*****on: Swim freestyle, but focus on keeping one arm extended in front while the other arm completes a full stroke. Imagine there's a zipper running down the center of your body, and your goal is to rotate along that line with each stroke. This drill encourages a balanced and streamlined body position in the water.

Fist Drill:

Objective: Enhances feel for the water and forearm strength.

Ex*****on: Swim freestyle with closed fists instead of open hands. This reduces your surface area, making it harder to pull through the water. The drill helps you engage your forearm muscles, emphasizing the pull phase of the stroke.

Welcome to the first of many short and FUN workouts!

Running short on time? No worries! Give this fast and fun workout a GO!
Complete 4-5 rounds of these 5 exercises, with 10 reps for each:
*Body Weight Lunges (10 each leg)
*Chest Press with Glute Bridge
*Plank Pull Through (20 total)
*Bicep Curl to Shoulder Press
*Squat Jacks
And if you can't squeeze in 4 or 5 rounds, do what you can. Even one round is a step forward! Small changes add up over time.

The off-season is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and try something new! Whether it's a different sport, a unique workout, or a new hobby, exploring new activities can enhance your overall athleticism and break up the routine.🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️
Consider taking up trail running, rock climbing, boxing, or even joining a dance class. 🌄🧗‍♂️💃SIDE NOTE: You won’t find me in the dance class. 🙂
Not only will this add variety to your fitness regimen, but it can also improve your balance, coordination, and mental resilience. You might discover a hidden passion or talent!
