🚧 PUBLIC NOTICE – KANZA BOAT RAMP CLOSURE 🚧

The Kanza Boat Ramp and parking lot will be CLOSED beginning May 11th for approximately 7 days while parking lot repairs are being completed.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to improve the parking lot. Please plan accordingly and use the Osage boat ramp during this time.

Please join us for the 20th Glen Elder Youth Fishing tournament June 6th. If you know anyone willing to bring a boat, we can never have too many boat drivers. This is also free park entrance day and free fishing weekend.

Glen Elder State Park has a new 3.6-mile hiking and biking path!!! The loop starts and ends at the Glen Elder State Park main office and travels past a fishing pond, crosses through several small, wooded areas containing wildlife and provides access to the Waconda Springs replica. Parking for the trail is at the main park office. Come out and enjoy the path!!! (Please note that while the path is complete and ready for use, we are still installing directional signage. Rest assured, the path has been mowed and is easy to follow as is. Maps are available at the park office.

The weather is unseasonably warm and the ice is off of the lake. It would be a good time to shake off the cabin fever and go fishing. The final trout stocking of the season at the Glen Elder Reservoir outlet occurred last Friday. The season extends until March 31. We would like to officially welcome Kelly Hansen Jr. to our State Park staff!

Kelly graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center last Friday, and we are proud to share that he received two awards during his time there. He earned the Honors Award for graduating at the top of his class academically, as well as the Fitness Award for his outstanding physical achievements.

To earn the Fitness Award, Kelly completed 30 push-ups in one minute, 30 sit-ups in one minute, ran 1.5 miles in under 18 minutes, and logged over 200 miles of running and walking throughout the 14-week training course. In total, Kelly logged an impressive 255 miles during his training.

Please join us in welcoming Kelly to the team and congratulating him on these remarkable accomplishments!
