With commencement week starting off on a rainy start, we wanted to highlight the three seniors that graduated this year!

All from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and majored in History was our President Christopher Roberts, our PR & Media Manager Julia Destra and one of our members Cameron Wilburn.

We can’t wait to see what amazing things they’ll do in the future!

Last Thursday was our Avatar Night! Keep reading to learn about the martial arts that inspired the nations as well as the activities we put on for the night:

🌊Waterbending🌊
Inspired by Tai Chi, it involves slow, flowing movements, deep breathing, and a meditative state of mind.
Just as water is the first to be listed in the intro of the song, we found it fitting to be the introduction of our practice. For the water tribe, we had 3 activities:
• Meditation
• Tai Chi demo
• Medicine Ball Pass

🌱Earthbending🪨
Inspired by two different Chinese martial arts: Hung Gar Kuen and Southern Praying Mantis (Toph’s style). These two styles are known for their powerful internal and external techniques. Hung Gar Kuen specializes in strong stances while Southern Praying Mantis emphasizes close-range fighting.
To shake things up, we decided to hold a conditioning tournament! Just as earthbenders need a good stance to control the ground beneath their feet, our members need a good stance to condition their arms and legs.
• Winner: Gavin

🌬️Airbending🌬️
Inspired by Baguazhang, a Chinese martial arts that emphasizes circular movements and flowing, evasive techniques. Sometimes referred to as Eight Trigram Palm or Bagua, the martial aspect of this practice is the regimented postures while walking in a circle.
Wanting to give our members a break from the competitions, air was next in our lineup. With two activities planned for air, we had one traditional and one that’s a bit more literal:
• Bagua Demo
• Flying Sidekicks

🔥Firebending🔥
Inspired by Northern Shaolin, a Northern Chinese martial arts. This style emphasizes long range techniques, quick advances and retreats, quickness, agility, and aggressive attacks.
Once more in a competitive style, our members competed in the KSD version of Agni Kai. Rather than burning the opponent, the first to placed as many of their sticky balls on their opponent wins.
• Winner: India

The final event was Air Ball. Just as air is last in the intro, we had to end our night with the most fun event in the show!

Thank you to everyone that attended this practice! We hope to see everyone for our final practice on MAY 1!

Yesterday morning, our club had a great time volunteering at Fresh For All! We were fortunate that they had the space to squeeze so many of us in, with our members taking on different roles including delivering the produce, restocking it, and setup/cleanup. Thank you to everyone that showed up, you are the reason this club thrives!

Rowan’s Fresh For All is a Philbundance program that brings fruits, vegetables, and other goods to the Glassboro community. Students and community members can pick up fresh produce at no cost every Friday from 9:30am-10:30am in Parking Lot D, near the Engineering Hall.

Once more, a special shoutout to the members that showed up: Chris, Ariadna, Benjamin, Vincent, Julia, Christopher, Gavin, Liam, Ben, Ryan, Lisa, Rey, India, and Jacey
