Today, they competed.

Competing in 2A Region today, we knew we had the potential to bring back some hardware if they played well. My goal for us was to clean sweep the team and individual standings, but we may have to save that one for next season.

The team fought hard and all five of them carded better than average rounds and are all continuing to play better golf each time. I don’t want them to be playing their best right now, we need that at Region. As a team, we brought home the Runner-Up back to GHS. Our first team trophy in 5 seasons and I think they may have gotten a taste of what is it to come.

Individually, HARLOW BALE WON IT ALL. It came down to the very last hole and there were moments of joy, panic, and everything in between. Her first tournament victory, but not her last.

I cannot wait to see how this group of freshmen and sophomores compete for the remainder of the season and beyond. Next up is the Trojannette Invitational on Saturday.

Today, I am proud of my team. I’m not just proud of their scores and work ethics. Today, I am proud because they became a TEAM.

High school golf is hard to explain to those who aren’t in this world. What do you mean that my five girls love and support each other while also wanting to whoop their teammates scores.

Whether they play golf at the next level or not, what these ladies will forever have are the memories. The van rides to and from event. The team meals. The sharing of frustration about a particular hole that day.

Today, when I lapped around the course and checked on each player, they all started their conversations with “How’s everyone else doing today?” Sure, some of it is wanting to compare scores, but an overwhelming amount is because they truly care for one another.

I’m proud of them for holding their heads high even while missing a shot they’ve hit in practice many times.

Alright, enough of that. CONGRATS to Lucy Cate on her personal best for this season. I am glad to see the work is showing up.

We’ve got a little bit of a break in our schedule with our next event not being until next Saturday. If you see one of these ladies, please congratulate them for their effort in this mini-gauntlet week start to the season.

When coach sends the Sunday text and says “blue skirt” I guess I need to be a little more specific haha.

Today, the ladies battled their hearts out at the one and only Bowling Green Country Club. Some holes they won, some holes the course won. Today’s focus was on learning the course as we have big goals to be playing some important rounds there soon.

I am proud of all five of them for their grit and determination even after a hole or bunker challenged them.

I would like to highlight Jenna Grace Pedigo for officially breaking 100 in competition for the first time!!! She is quickly turning into an anchor for our team.

Rest day tomorrow and then back to work on Wednesday at General Burnside. Proud, but not satisfied 💪🏼 ⛳️🏌🏼‍♀️💙
