Gladstone Martial Arts Academy Gladstone Martial Arts Academy teaches traditional Okinawan Kempo and life protection. Specifically in Ryukyu Kempo.

Here at the Gladstone Martial Arts Academy, we teach a traditional martial art in Okinawan Karate. The curriculum consists of empty hand training and Okinawan martial arts weapons. Our mission is to provide students with quality training in traditional Okinawan Karate. To us, character is the most important part of Martial Arts training. Everyone is busy and the ability to do something together as

a family is quickly diminishing with all of the activities that kids are involved with, and it takes a toll on the family. That is what we are about, bringing a family together through martial arts. Students will be taught to apply lessons outside of the karate school. Karate - specifically the character and the discipline we learn - is something that we should carry around with us daily. Our karate classes are designed to strengthen the body, the mind, and character. Okinawan karate was developed in the 1600’s as a way of life protection from the Japanese Samurai that inhabited Okinawa and the Ryukyuan islands. It was not taught for individual gain for sports achievement. We focus on both individual and family development in the discipline of Okinawan Karate through the study of exercises, kata, techniques and traditional martial arts weapons.

We're looking for local churches, businesses, or nonprofits in and around Kansas City that would be willing to partner up with us in reaching out to the community to help educate families in self defense.

We'd love to do a seminar, demonstration, or class for you!

We focus not only on technique, but mindset and awareness. We can craft our art for everyone - families, kids, parents, teens, adults, teachers, law enforcement, or anyone else who would be interested in learning practical self defense.

This doesn't only apply to martial arts, but to many other things in life. In any kind of movement that our body can do, good posture makes it more effective. Even in walking.

We've updated the schedule slightly. If we have enough requests for other time-slots, we can add classes to wherever is most convenient for everyone!

Lastly, uniforms are coming in! Get with Renshi Wakeman on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays to make sure we get the right size.
