My mom was diagnosed with osteopenia at 50.
That is exactly four years from where I am right now. I do that math more than I want to admit.
If you've watched a mother or grandmother lose ground to osteoporosis, you know this quiet math too. It's not paranoia. It's a completely reasonable response to watching someone you love lose their independence to something that might have been preventable.
Here's what actually changes things: lifting weights, eating enough protein, and enough calories in general, getting sufficient calcium, Vitamins D & K and Magnesium; Limiting alcohol and to***co and taking estrogen.
I go deep on all of it in this week's podcast, including a decision I made for myself back in June that I haven't fully talked about until now.
Comment “podcast” and I’ll send you the link to the episode.
