Team Michigan Rally Defeats Team Superior

Team Michigan trailed by as many as five Monday at Mike Maule Field in Norway during the 1st Annual UP High School Baseball All Star Game, but came back to top Team Superior on Monday, 7-6.
Team Superior got on the board in the first inning after Carsen Belanger (Negaunee) singled, scoring one run.
A walk by Robert Roberts (Ironwood), and a single by Cooper Curtis (Manistique) helped Team Superior extend their early lead in the second.
Tanner Baker (Rudyard) hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fourth for Team Superior.
Cody Turner (Jeffers) grounded out, which helped Team Michigan take the lead 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth.
Team Superior took the lead in the top of the seventh. Tanner Baker (Rudyard) doubled, scoring one run, to tie the game at 6-6.
In the bottom of the 7th, Cole Baij (Norway) hit a walk-off sacrifice fly, scoring courtesy runner Aiden Sevon (Menominee) from 3rd base, giving Team Michigan the 7-6 Victory.
Andres Finley (Kingsford) led things off on the bump for Team Michigan. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Matthew Rahilly (Newberry) opened the game for Team Superior. The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out three and walking none.
Cole Baij (Norway), Bryce Adams (Norway), Owen McConkey (Pickford), Lucas Hall (Bark River-Harris), Cody Turner (Jeffers), and Ethan Pavey (Newberry) each threw innings for Team Michigan in relief. Austin Pepin (Gladstone), Jack Siik (Negaunee), Gavin Trevillion (Kingsford), Carson Belanger (Negaunee), Garrett Brown (Kingsford), and Cooper Curtis (Manistique) pitched in relief for Team Superior.
Bryce Adams (Norway) and Andres Finley (Kingsford) each collected two hits for Team Michigan. Cole Baij (Norway), Bryce Adams (Norway), Andres Finley (Kingsford), and Dom Lantagne (Bark River-Harris) each drove in one run for Team Michigan. Cole Baij (Norway) paced Team Michigan with two walks. Overall, Landon Amundson (Norway) had the most chances in the field with 10.
Team Superior amassed 10 hits in the game. Tanner Baker (Rudyard) and Matthew Rahilly (Newberry) were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Team Superior. Cooper Curtis (Manistique) and Tanner Baker (Rudyard) each drove in two runs for Team Superior.
Tanner Baker (Rudyard) and Andres Finley (Kingsford) were selected as Team MVP’s for their respective teams.
