One of the hardest parts of coaching is when the season ends.
You go from seeing these boys almost every day sharing laughs, struggles, and victories to it all suddenly coming to an end with that final out.
From the very beginning, we challenged this group. We told them the road ahead wouldn’t be easy. We weren’t just playing kids our age we were taking on older, stronger, and more experienced teams. Teams that train year round, with professional trainers and paid coaches. But we had a bigger goal: to prepare these boys for the journey ahead in sports and in life and thats exactly what we did. Sure we could have taken the easy way and found tournaments with lesser talent to chase those rings, but that wasn’t the goal and would have gone against everything we believe in “ to be the best we muster always be willing to challenge ourselves”
It wasn’t always easy. There were long days, stressful moments, and times I felt the weight of it all. But through the ups and downs, we stayed the course. And because of that, these boys gained lessons that will stick with them far longer than this season.
I’ve coached a lot of games, but some of the battles this group fought through were the toughest I’ve ever been part of. And yet, every single time, they stood tall. They stood proud. They fought until the very last pitch. More than that they picked each other up, supported each other, and had each other’s backs both on and off the field. That’s what I’ll remember most about this wild, special crew.
This season may be over, but the bond we built, the growth I witnessed, and the memories we made will never fade
