Once a Piranhas, ALWAYS a Piranhas!! We’ve always lived by this, we are a family!!!

I am sending this out because one of our own Piranhas family member, who had been very involved with Piranhas since 2012 till 2025 has unexpectedly passed! This family had two boys that swam Piranhas from a young age till they graduated HS. They could very much use our thoughts and prayers right now.

A Meal Train has been set up for them as well and is being shared. Just click the link if you would like to help out in any way. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Sheila Meloy, at (660)909-1492. Thank you!!

Please help us support Jennifer and the boys over the next couple weeks as they navigate the loss of Brad. Brad’s brother and family will be staying here also next week. After March 23 meals only need to be for 2-3 people. Any questions please text Jennifer at 660-441-0277.

Good Saturday Evening Piranhas Fans !!

What an amazing Sunday of Piranhas Swim Team swimming it was at Day #3, MVS District Championships East !

We had a full compliment of District Qualifiers today with the addition of Sophie Hall and Matthew Meloy. These 6 athletes worked hard since September to achieve the cut-times necessary to attend this Championship meet. This weekend's performances from them all were pretty sweet.

PreLims in the morning and Finals in the early evening was the format once again and today proved to be another long and tough day for everyone.

Congratulations to Harper McNally, Layni Eggen and William O'Meara who found their way to Finals today!

-----------------------

Season Best Times / Personal Records were achieved by the following:

Sophie Hall in the: 50 Freestyle, 50 Breaststroke and 50 Butterfly. She had one of the best meets this season!

Brady Carlyle in the: 100 Backstroke. She crushed that race and dropped a TON of time !

Matthew Meloy in the: 100 Backstroke. He's getting over being sick and didn't even know if he would be well enough until 2 days ago. Super proud of his focus and attitude!

---------------------------

These following Three athletes not only had Best Times today but found the path to Finals and showed their competition what being a Vicious Fish really meant.

Harper McNally brought home the Gold (1st place) in the 200 Freestyle; finished 7th overall in the 50 Breaststroke and 9th overall in the 50 Butterfly. She came today focused to WIN the Gold in the 200 Freestyle and might just have had one of the most exciting races of the season!

Layni Eggen took 4th overall in the 100 Backstroke just shy of the Bronze! Her backstroke is not her most favorite stroke but she came today to get a Best Time in that event and she most certainly did that today !

William O'Meara took Bronze (3rd place) in the 200 Breaststroke. This race is one that in that last 50 yards you are just digging for everything you can as your legs are on fire !! He battled all the way and it paid off.

That is a wrap for 3 days of Championship Swimming. Swimmers and Coaches spent a total of 27 hours on the pool deck representing their Team and their Community !!! They made us all extremely proud and the results were nothing short of a solid WIN for each of them. Lot's of Smiles and Confidence was achieved this weekend.

It's not easy to qualify for this meet. In fact only 14% of our team made it to this meet (achieved the qualifying cut times). Our Missouri Valley LSC (regional governing body of USA Swimming) sets the target cut-times to allow approximately 15% of all registered swimmers to qualify - so in doing the math Piranhas might not be the biggest program out there but our swimmers achieve at a metric consistent with much larger programs ! How awesome is this !!

Our LSC has 4,200 registered swimmers and approximately 700 athletes swam at three different pools (2 in Kansas and 1 in Missouri this weekend). These 6 were among that talented group of young and up-in-coming athletes. They already have their sights set on more and a few of them will be traveling to the LSC Age Group Championship in a few weeks (more about that later).

Let's just say THAT MEET TARGET is set to send the Top 5% of those 4,200 LSC athlete swimmers to the biggest dance our LSC hosts. And, YES - - we have two who will be making their way to Age Group Championships and 2 who have qualified for Senior Championships!!

Congratulations to Layni Eggen and Harper McNally who have achieved qualifying times for the MV LSC Age Group Championship to be held in Topekas, KS, @ March 5-8 !!

Congratulations to Nathan Snowden and Andrew Meloy who have achieved qualifying times for the MV LSC Senior Championship to be held in Topeka, KS, @ February 26 thru March 1st !!

Good Saturday Evening Piranhas Fans !!

What a night at the Natatorium and watching awesome fast-Piranhas Swimming ! Our Community and Team were definitely well represented.

First out of the gate at Finals was Harper McNally swimming in the 100 Butterfly. We measure improvement by a 100th of a second and she did exactly that. Best Time by 100th of a second to bring home the Bronze!

Next was the 100 IM and this gave us the excitement of two of our athletes fighting it out. Layni Eggen crushed her Best Time during Finals by 2.13 seconds - held off the field to bring home the Gold!! Harper battled hard until the very end and took 6th place overall.

The 100 Breast was William O’Meara’s swan song and he came to win tonight. His first time ever being in a District Final and he found himself up some stiff competition. That didn’t deter him in anyway and once the waves settled he celebrated with a 4th place overall finish!

A long Day #2 is now in the books. We had some LSC Champ cuts; Best Times and top finishes achieved. These swimmers came ready to swim and they didn’t let their fans down. On to Day #3 and what is sure to be another FAST day for this Piranhas crew!!! We all can’t wait.

Congratulations to Layni Eggen for a fantastic weekend swimming this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa at the Mid West All Star meet.

She qualified as a 10 & Under athlete-swimmer representing our Missouri Valley LSC and competed against swimmers representing the Colorado, Iowa, Midwestern (Nebraska), North Dakota, South Dakota and Ozark LSCs!

Layni swam her heart out and had Best Times in 100 Breast; 50 Freestyle; 100 Freestyle and 50 Breast. She was also part of two relays that had Best Times as well ! Her performance in the 50 Breast earned her a 10th place overall out of 37 swimmers. Her performance in the 100 Breast placed her 5th overall out of 33 swimmers !! What a great weekend for a young lady who is always focused on improvement and having fun with all of her swim friends !

Layni - - your Piranhas teammates and coaches are Super Proud of YOU !

!!!! URGENT !!!!
Good Blustery Winter Morning PIRANHAS! It might be getting cold outside but the pool is ready to start heating back up with the start of our Piranhas Swim Team - Session #2 season !!

Below is the link to get your swimmer(s) signed up and ready to go for the start of practice Monday, January 5th, at 7pm - 8:15pm. Great News ... Unlike many youth and non-youth activities this 2026 year -- PIRANHAS are NOT raising their fees! There are even discounts for larger families. We want swimming to be accessible to as many kiddos as possible.

If your swimmer maximizes the program there are 300 minutes (5 hours) of practice/training time PER WEEK - - available to them spread over nearly 12 weeks! Do the math - that's just $3.91 per hour for a healthy and FUN youth activity which builds discipline, confidence, creates forever friendships and lifelong water skills. Spread the word and lets have an AMAZING Winter Session #2. The Piranhas and the pool is the place to be this Winter!

Day #2 in Gladstone, MO at the MV Age Group District Championships !! What an amazing first day of swims by our Piranhas All District Team. There were 17 Best Time performances achieved by this awesome group of swimmers. INCREDIBLE

Our swimmers soundly beat swimmers from MUCH larger teams and many even considered by some as the more “elite” in our region. This group of six showed this Natatorium what working hard at practice and being a Piranhas means while continuing to put Warrensburg on the map of competitive swimming!! So VERY VERY proud of thesd young athletes! ❤️

And… last night Layni Eggen who was seated first in the 100 Breaststroke after Pre-Lim’s swam the race of her life in Finals and shaved another 3 seconds off her best time firmly qualifying for and advancing to the next level Championships for her age-group!! The top 3 finishes were only separated by less than 4 - 10th’s of a second (.40). What a race. The entire natatorium was a cacophony of cheering and yelling as it was neck and neck the last 50 yards of the race .

Today (Sunday) we lose one of our six from Saturday so this team of 5 has to carry a little more weight. But … THIS group can do it ! Harper, Layni, Audrey, Silvie, and Matthew are ready to leave nothing in the pool and go to WAR !!!!!!!!
