Pacific Ocean Water Sports’ annual SCUBA diving calendar features regularly scheduled expeditions to Catalina Island, the Channel Islands National Park, Monterey Bay, and Lake Tahoe, among other destinations on the West Coast of the USA. Additionally we offer quarterly expeditions to some of the world’s best SCUBA diving destinations. We are open Thursdays through Mondays, five days a week, forty hours a week. It's always nice to be visited by one of our main SCUBA brands, SEAC, sold at our dive center in Gilroy California.
Founded in Italy in 1971, SEAC entered the US market in 2012 and we have been one of their California dealers since 2015.

This time, Jacopo stopped by to take our order for the first-generation SEAC antifog masks - the SEAC Pura and SEAC Clear, made with a special treatment that prevents fog build up on the interior of the mask lens - come check it out at our dive center next week.

Last weekend's dives at the in brought us to calm waters and slightly colder temps in the low 50s, with visibility of around 20F.
Often times when we travel the world to the best SCUBA destinations, people ask us where we are from, and when they learn that most of our dives are conducted in cold water, everything makes sense: our recreational dives are as close to technical diving as recreational gets: 7mm wetsuits, limited visibility, full-on thermal protection, some who dive in drysuits, diving with "obstacles" (kelp everywhere), are some of the main reasons why California divers are "made different".

In the world of recreational SCUBA, when you get on a boat to go dive a new exciting site, what clues are you giving to the staff and the more experienced / expert level divers about your diving form?
Ask Divemasters and Instructors around the world and they will tell you, they "know them by their B&T" (Buoyancy and Trimming).

As a new diver, your B&T develops as fast and as far as you invest your time and efforts into it and not an inch more.
The benefit of mastering your B&T you may ask?
Well, for starters, you work less and enjoy more while diving.
But it does not stop at ease of diving - you also save on gas consumption while diving, move through the water more effectively, get less fatigued and let's not forget about looking good in those underwater vids and pics.
The above pic taken last weekend includes newly certified Open Water SCUBA divers doing their one-day Buoyancy and Trimming Diver certification to accelerate their learning curve, developing a comfortable, consistent diving style.

It was such a nice weekend in to train and get awesome results!
6 new Open Water Divers certified, Mauri and Joel taking care of business and ocean conditions that don't get much better than this in NorCal: sunny on the surface, no waves and vis of around 30ft.
Next up Buoyancy & Trimming Diver certification; Nitrox Diver Certification; Drift Diver certification; Shipwreck Diver certification and Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

Is it still winter? Is it Spring?
We don't know based on what the weather has been doing lately in NorCal.
But for a SCUBA diving Open Water student, it really doesn't matter.
We are trained in the rugged, demanding Northern California conditions, taught to become the best and safest SCUBA divers we can be.
We train hard with much pride, love and dedication to get that "cold-water SCUBA diver-certified" status that would make us stronger and safer in most water environments.
