We scheduled a private training session for our family and it was worth every penny. Karl was an incredibly knowledgeable and patient instructor. We had an age range of 14-53 including one lefty and he was able to adjust and accommodate everyone without issue. We went in thinking that we were going to purchase a particular gun for home defense and after Karl's instruction decided to go a different route more suited for our family. We will be doing additional training sessions in the future. I also appreciate that his instruction was apolitical, very fact based. I would and will be highly recommending his program!

Obviously, I need a social media account manager since I have not posted here in such a long time. Training has continued throughout 2024 and Make Ready is looking forward to 2025! Pistol 101 classes continue at the Gig Harbor Sportsman's Club at the end of each month without a Club event or holiday. Range Ready private in-home classes and Range Coaching are also available with multiple range options. Pistol 101 and Range Ready in-home classroom instruction will provide a certificate for fi****ms purchase in Washington State, good for five years.

Look for the addition of a home defense focus class designed for individuals/couples who are already comfortable handling and shooting their firearm and want more education on building a home defense plan.

AR You Curious?

How about a private lesson on the range where you will learn about safe handling and firing of AR-15 style rifles? You will learn how the rifle operates and review fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and safe shooting practices. This session will also introduce you to different sighting systems from traditional open sights to red dots, magnified optics, and holographic sights. Disassembly and cleaning procedures will also be discussed. Little or no experience shooting a rifle? No problem. This is a great introduction to center fire rifle shooting. We had another fun and informative Pistol 101 this weekend. Thank you to all the participants. This comment came in by email today:

"Great class. Both the classroom instruction and shooting range were a big help. I’ve been mainly self taught and obviously not very well. Learning the proper shooting techniques and gun control were a good way to practice and reinforce the proper techniques. [My wife] was a beginner and found the course very helpful as well."

Thanks to everyone who participated in the latest Pistol 101 class the last Saturday of the month at the Gig Harbor Sportsman’s Club. Thanks also to those who posted reviews. That helps get the word out to people looking for firearm training.

The next Pistol 101 is scheduled for Saturday, February 25th. Class starts at 1 pm and we are done by 6 pm. Advanced registration is required and there are only a few seats left.

The first Pistol 101 of 2023 is scheduled for January 28th. There is a wait list at this time. Email me if you want to be on the wait list. There are still openings for February 25th and March 25th pistol 101 classes.

Of course private lessons are also an available.

3 Rules of Gun Safety: Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

Proper training leads to good habits. Good habits will prevent accidents.

Look at this video and observe the trigger finger. The shooter’s finger remains outside the trigger guard and away from the trigger during gun handling and loading. Once the shooter is on target the trigger is engaged, but when not firing the trigger finger immediately returns to “index” outside the trigger guard.

This was the third time on the range for one of my students and she is clearing the Texas Star at an Intro to Dynamic Steel Shooting class. 😄 That was so cool. Make Ready traveled to Vegas for the LGC annual meeting. Good times. Great class.

Pistol 101 is a group class usually held monthly. October and November are full. There will not be a December class because of Christmas. Pistol 101 will start up again in January 2023!

Private Lessons:

Range Ready in-home private lessons have been very successful. Gun safety rules, firearm handling and operation, fundamentals of pistol shooting to include stance, grip, sights, and trigger control, practice with dummy rounds, and disassembly and cleaning. Each Range Ready class is tailored to your actual firearm(s) and training needs. If you do not have a gun yet, I have many examples to show you to help you decide. All this in the comfort of your home! Live fire range coaching is also available.
