PTL Pittsburgh Tennis League With 70+ years of women's recreational tennis in Western Pennsylvania, PTL has you covered!

Whether a seasoned player or new to tennis, our Divsion Leaders, Captains and Co-Captains will find you your home away from home and friendships of a lifetime! Founded in 1953 by Vee Toner, Joy Liken and Janet Thomas to promote women’s tennis, the Pittsburgh Tennis League’s mission to promote women’s tennis continues to grow almost 70 years later! Their goal to generate enthusiasm for the sport and to provide social and recreational league play to thousands of women in Western Pennsylvania is nothing short of remarkable! Today, the league consists of 30+ teams with approximately 500 members representing various tennis clubs and community tennis courts in the Greater Pittsburgh area. Open to women 19 years and older, PTL offers summer league play on weeknights from May-July, with 1 singles line and 4 doubles lines. And to keep your play going through the cold winter months, PTL offers winter league play from January-March with 3 lines of doubles playing weekdays. Calling all Triples Tennis fans OR newbies! Join us at Glen Creek Tennis Club on Saturday September 12 at 4pm for a team tennis triples round robin. Learn more about the event, gather your triples buds, and sign up today! $25 per player, forming a 3-4 person teams. Teams may be a combination of gender!

We are so grateful for our players! Yesterday, we kicked off our 73rd summer season at Pure Athletix, with 60 enthusiastic PTL members. The event included a warm-up session by Ace Sports Performance, Triples Tennis, and post-event networking. It was a fantastic afternoon. We would like to thank our board leaders: Carol, Marilyn, Holly, Heather, Charlene, Gina, Kai, Diane, and our Division Coordinators for executing the summer league kickoff. Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, vision, and dedication of the incredible women who lead the PTL community forward.

To our PTL Board: thank you for the countless hours, thoughtful decisions, and steady leadership you bring to this league. Your commitment creates opportunities for women to compete, connect, and grow—on and off the court. You champion fairness, foster community, and make space for every player to feel supported and seen.

Your work doesn’t just keep the league running. It sets the tone for what women’s sports can look like when passion and purpose come together.
