"After spending three days here, I noticed something special about this event. People never say "I" but always use "we" when talking about it. It's rare to see such a strong sense of community and collective spirit.”
These observations were made over some beers by the campfire, and while the exact words might not be verbatim, the sentiment remains the same.
We're all in this together at Smash Life. It's not about individual achievements, it's about lifting each other up and celebrating our shared love for snowboarding.
We're honored to present this year's Smash Life Award to Steve and JoAnn Grant for their selflessness, dedication, and love for the community. From handmade meatloaf and PBJ's with bacon and dig day beer runs for the shovelers to parking lot campfire stoke. Thank you for being part of the family, Smash Life is better because of you both.

“I don't know what to say.
You all are amazing. We love what you do and especially why you do it. I think about our high school art teacher, Stan Southwick, who also taught a skiing class and how many kids like me he influenced. I think about how many of us influenced kids over the years and how many they all influenced and the ripple effect that keeps on growing. It's a great life style and even though I never knew Aaron I know we all share the desire to share the love. His ripple will never stop and hopefully ours won't either.
Thanks for giving us all a chance to mention our fallen riders. I wasn't ready for that. Is it your mission to make me cry?
Pam posted a pic of the sword. I honestly thought it was a rubber ducky kind of a thing like for the best crash or most embarrassing moment. We're picking it up tomorrow morning. Moon called to make sure I understood that it's at least %70 JoAnn's. He's underestimating.
Jo's always been the one doing the hard work, creating flyers, running registration, organizing brackets, staying up late cooking meatloaf so it's as fresh as possible. I'm so lucky! I get to screw around and have all the fun.”
