As we close another season at Twin Creek, I just want to say thank you.

To every one of our employees, thank you for your hard work, your patience, and for taking care of our customers day in and day out. Whether you were checking people in, driving shuttles, loading kayaks, fitting and cleaning life jackets, hauling equipment, or helping behind the scenes, every job mattered. We had a great season because of all of you.

I’d also like to give a special thank you to Jimmy, Alex, Brian, Roger, and Brad at the Marathon station. You guys have always been there for us and our customers with a smile, a helping hand, and great service. It’s nice to have neighbors who truly care about the people in this community.

A special thank you also goes to SRM Materials for purchasing a jon boat that will be used for Twin Creek cleanups. Your support will help us remove trash and keep the creek cleaner for everyone who enjoys it. We truly appreciate your commitment to our community and our local waterways.

Owning a small business isn’t something you do alone. It takes great employees, supportive neighbors, loyal customers, and a whole lot of teamwork. I truly appreciate every one of you and everything you did to help make this season a success.

Thank you all for another great season. We’ll see everyone back on the creek next spring!

Why does Twin Creek close so early each year?

We get this question a lot.

As of today, the creek’s average depth is about 1.5 feet. That doesn’t mean the entire creek is 1.5 feet deep. Some areas are much deeper, while other sections are only a few inches deep. Those shallow areas require you to get out and drag your kayak, turning the trip into more kaywalking than kayaking.

That’s not the experience we want our customers to have. We want you paddling, floating, stopping at the rock and sand beaches, swimming, and enjoying the beauty of Twin Creek—not spending your trip walking through shallow water.

Low water is also very hard on our equipment. Every time a kayak is dragged across rocks, it scrapes the hull, wears the plastic thin, and eventually creates holes that require costly repairs or replacement.

Because Twin Creek is a small, spring-fed creek, our season depends entirely on rainfall. We’d love to stay open longer every year, but Mother Nature ultimately decides when the season ends.

The good news is we’re still kayaking! Our second location, Tippecanoe & Kayaks Too, is located just 45 minutes south of Twin Creek in Cleves, Ohio, on the beautiful Great Miami River. Our most popular trip is a scenic 5-mile float where we shuttle you upstream, and you simply float back to your vehicle—making it one of the most convenient kayaking trips around.

Visit TippecanoeAndKayaksToo.com to reserve your trip. We’re open this holiday weekend and would love to see you on the water! Tippecanoe is open weekends and holidays through Labor Day.

Thank you to everyone who paddled with us at Twin Creek this season. We truly appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you back on the creek next spring!

Twin Creek Update – Monday & Tuesday (June 29–30)

If you’ve been thinking about kayaking Twin Creek, today and tomorrow may be your last chance of the season.

Water levels are dropping, but thanks to the recent rainfall, we’re open today and planning to be open tomorrow as well. After that, we’ll be making a day-by-day decision based on water levels.

As many of you know, Twin Creek has a naturally short season. When the water gets too low, it turns from kayaking into “kaywalking,” and that’s not the experience we want our guests to have.

So if you’ve been waiting to get out on the creek, don’t wait any longer! Come enjoy the clear water, beautiful scenery, and one of the last opportunities to paddle with us this season.
