It is with great sadness and sympathy that we announce the passing of Tom Sowders. Tom passed away due to unexpected health complications. The Germantown and surrounding communities have many fond memories of Tom and his impact will never be forgotten. As per Tom's personal wishes, there will not be a public viewing or funeral ceremony. Attached to this post is his obituary where friends and acquaintances are welcome to leave thoughts, stories, memories, or send flowers and donations.

Tom will be remembered as the quick-witted "life of the party".

Rest in peace, Tom.

Dear all,

As the administrator of this page, I feel it is important to inform you all that the owner of Romar, Mr. Tom Sowders, has purchased and began running the roller rink in Trenton. I personally have been there and although it isn't and never will be the same as Romar, it is a very nice facility. I would like to invite you all who are able to visit the rink, to do so. It may be farfetched, but the Trenton rink could possibly be the new place for memories, friendships, and the shared enjoyment of roller-skating. Tom is very excited about the business, and I know he would be thrilled to have as much of the Germantown community spend some time at the Trenton rink as possible.

Dear all loyal patrons of Romar Skating Rink. We are sad to update you all with the final message that Romar is closed permanently after 60 years of operation. The structural damage of the building has exceeded repair, & because of this we are unable to complete renovations. This official page will remain, as a place to cherish memories, photos, stories, & thoughts of Romar. Please feel free to share your stories, memories, photos & more so Romar will never be forgotten. We appreciate the decades of awesome fun, & hope that our loyal customers remember Romar as one of Germantown's finest establishments. Thank you all again for your understanding.
