Well deserved recognition for these two!!
Valley View Athletics is proud to recognize Lucy Shell and Isaac Johnson as the recipients of the August Edward Jones Athlete of the Month Award.
Lucy Shell (Volleyball - Senior)
Coach Erisman’s comments: “Senior Lucy Shell is one of our setters and team captains, and she exemplifies what it means to be a true leader both on and off the court. Lucy consistently sets the standard for our program through her work ethic, commitment, and team-first mindset.
As a senior leader, Lucy is an incredible role model for our younger athletes. She leads by example every day and holds herself to a high standard, encouraging those around her to do the same. Her energy and presence on the court have a tremendous impact on our team. She understands that leadership isn't always about being the loudest voice; it is about setting the standard and bringing others along with you. She has a unique ability to bring her teammates together, keep them focused, and elevate the energy of the entire team. Lucy recently reached an exciting career milestone of 500 assists and has continued to build on that achievement, currently sitting at 679 career assists and counting. That accomplishment is something she should be extremely proud of, but what makes it even more meaningful is knowing how many of those assists have come from putting her teammates in a position to succeed. As a coach, you hope to have athletes who make an impact on your program, but you also hope to have athletes who leave a lasting impression on the people around them. Lucy is that athlete. She represents the kind of leader, teammate, and person we want our program to develop. I am incredibly proud of the way she leads our team, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to coach her during her senior season. Lucy represents the character, dedication, leadership, and competitive spirit that we want our athletes to embody. She is a tremendous asset to our volleyball program and an outstanding example for the athletes who will follow in her footsteps.”
Isaac Johnson (Senior, Football)
Coach King’s comments: Isaac Johnson has had a great season thus far. He is a great player on both offense, defense, and special teams. He currently leads the SWBL in interceptions with 6, along with 12 pass breakups. Offensively, he has 19 carries for 234 yards and 13 receptions for 231 yards and has 6 touchdowns total. He averages 9 yards per punt return and 27 yards per kickoff return with 1 TD. Isaac is a captain for us and a great leader. Isaac is a young man with high character and has an incredible work ethic. Despite all of his accomplishments, he is incredibly humble.
