Let's talk about the fear that keeps too many women away from the weight room.

"I don't want to get bulky."

We hear it all the time. And we get it. But here's the thing nobody's telling you: the real threat to your body as you age isn't too much muscle. It's not enough of it.

After 40, women can lose 3-8% of their muscle mass per decade. And as estrogen drops during perimenopause and menopause, bone density follows. That's the recipe for osteoporosis, fractures, and losing the independence you've worked so hard for.

Getting "too bulky" from strength training? For most women, that's genuinely not how female physiology works. Building noticeable muscle mass requires very specific training, very specific nutrition, and a lot of intentional effort over a long period of time.

We took our fitness family outside at the end of May and honestly? Best decision ever. πŸ’œ

Our Althea crew laced up their hiking boots and hit the trails at Raven Run, and the energy was everything. Laughing, encouraging each other up the rocky paths, stopping to take in that cliffside view... this is exactly what we mean when we say fitness is about so much more than the gym.

Most of us aren't eating enough fiber. And no, you don't need a fancy powder or a TikTok "hack" to fix that.

The highest-fiber foods are the ones you already know:
🌱 Chia seeds (1 oz = 10g)
πŸ₯‘ Avocado (1 medium = 10g)
πŸ₯¦ Broccoli (1 cup = 5g)
🌰 Almonds (1 oz = 3.5g)
🌾 Flaxseed (1 cup = 8g)

For women over 40, fiber does a lot more than keep digestion moving. It helps regulate blood sugar (huge for hormonal balance), supports heart health, keeps you fuller longer, and plays a real role in long-term wellness.

That's a big deal when you're building a body that works for you for the next 30, 40 years.

A few things to keep in mind as you add more:
