MONDAY MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE 🏔️
Week 5: 100-Rep Challenge + Gratitude

This week is about consistency, not intensity. One exercise a day, 100 reps total — break it up however works for you.

💪 100-Rep Challenge:
Monday: Squats
Tuesday: Push-ups or Dips
Wednesday: Jumping Jacks
Thursday: Burpees
Friday: Lunges

📝 Gratitude Journal: Write down 3 specific things you’re grateful for, every day this week. Rain. No homework. A good meal. Time with friends. Specific beats general.

Bonus watch: NBC Sports’ feature on Nordic skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo finding balance between training, rest, and life in 2026 — link in stories. Worth the few minutes.

TBT - Found while spring cleaning the clubhouse: pieces of LSC history. 📼 From the old Loveland Basin Racing Club thank-you sign, to a 1978 Top Dog Ski Derby poster with 500 entrants and top junior racers from a four-state area, to our 60th Anniversary Derby sign. 🐾 It’s National Dog Day, and Loveland Ski Club would be a mess without our unofficial coaching staff.

George — Head of Slope Safety, US Ski & Snowboard Patrol (Self-Certified). North of 100 lbs and knows exactly how much room that buys him. Works every condition, takes zero notes, has never needed to.

Brodie — Freeride Specialist, Certified in Everything, Verified in Nothing. No official USSS division covers what he does out there. Honestly, they should make one.

Jasper — Director of Athlete Experience, FIS Certified Good Boy. Shows up every training day with the kind of energy the rest of us are still trying to fake by 8am. Has never DNF’d.

Honorable mention to Fred, VP of Standards & Compliance, who is not technically a dog but has earned his spot with the big dogs. Attendance is optional. Standards are non-negotiable.

Happy national dog day!!! 🐶 🐕 🎿

MONDAY MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE 🏔️
Week 4: Cardio & Course Visualization

This week is about building your engine and sharpening your mind — two different kinds of training that both matter come race day.

🏃 Daily Mini Cardio: 15-30 minutes of sustained cardio every day — run, bike, swim, row, hike, rollerblade, your choice. Keep your heart rate moderately high — working, but still able to talk. Don’t skip the 5-minute warm-up and cool-down.

🧠 Course Visualization Challenge: Remember a course from last season, or build your own. Draw it out on paper, a whiteboard, or set it up outside with cones or water bottles. Then visualize it — move through the body positions you’d be in at each section, start to finish. Notice the terrain changes, snow conditions, wind. Time yourself: how close to real speed can you ‘ski’ it in your mind?

MONDAY MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE 🏔️

Week 3: Preparedness — Rest & Recovery
This week isn’t about pushing harder, it’s about recovering right. Sleep is where your body actually adapts and gets stronger — not in the workout itself.

😴 Sleep Challenge: Go to bed 5-10 minutes earlier each night this week. Put screens away, stretch, drink water, and let your body slow down before rest. Teens 13-19 need a minimum of 8-9 hours of quality sleep per night. Notice what routine makes you feel best.

🎲 Dryland Challenge: Roll the Dice Circuit
Pick 6 bodyweight exercises (or use ours: push-ups, squats, lateral lunges, tricep dips, jumping jacks, walking lunges).
Roll 1 = reps per exercise (roll x 5)
Roll 2 = rest between exercises (roll x 10 sec)
Roll 3 = total sets

No dice? Use playing cards or a random number generator.
Complete once this week, then make it your own.
