The girls went 3-3 on this weekends tournament! Last tournament of the season! We had some lows and highs but I am always proud of these girls. That being said …. Our run as Buzz Rodriguez/ Texas Blaze 2032 has sadly come to an end 😞
I’ve been thinking about how I wanted to post this because I have been doing this since Sienna was 6 years old. This decision was also emotional for Sienna.
I started back with AF in first year 8u and had a stacked group of kids and coaches! Many of my assistant coaches at the time now all have their teams and are succeeding at a high level.
I didn’t start this for ego… I didn’t do this to just win.. I did it because these girls deserved the opportunity to play at high level. I wanted to be that coach that was known for giving them a chance. It takes only one coach to change an athletes life. I just hope that at least one girl feels like I was a special part of her journey 🙂
I’m going to tell you the things I am going to miss and things that I won’t miss as a coach …
I am NOT going to miss making the lineup and sitting a girl out, I am not going to miss calling around and getting field and indoor practices together, I am not going to miss dealing with umpires when they made a bad call, I am not going to miss explaining to some parents and why they didn’t play a certain position, I am not going miss waking up an hour extra early to get to the fields before everyone on practice and game days, and the biggest thing that i am not going to miss is the constant Heartbreak you get when an athlete leaves the team.
What I am going to miss….
I am going to miss all the girls I ever coached , I am going to miss them giving an awesome hand shakes, I am going to miss asking them on how their day was at school, I am going to miss them telling me about some drama that happened at school, I am going to miss them being happy about making a good play or hit , I am going to miss them making fun of me when I accidentally say 6 7 , I am going to miss watching them play the game they love. I am going to miss making memories with all these girls and their families .
It was a fun ride …. I really did enjoy it but now.. I am happy to be just Dad…. That was the biggest thing for us…. We just wanted to be just a family to enjoy our kids softball ride and journey.
I want to thank everyone for the support over the years! I appreciate y’all more than yall will ever know!
Thank you!
