Day tripped on Saturday over to Greenport, NY. By Chance the USCG Flagship Eagle was sharing the same marina as us. Got some up close video as I was leaving the harbor. 🇺🇸 Thanks to all my friends and followers who have or are serving in our military! . History of EAGLE
Built at the Blohm+Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany in 1936, and commissioned as Horst Wessel, EAGLE was one of three sail-training ships operated by the pre-World War II German navy. At the close of the war, the ship was taken as a war reparation by the U.S., re-commissioned as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter EAGLE and sailed to New London, Connecticut, which has been her permanent homeport ever since. Length of EAGLE: 295 ft. (roughly equivalent to a football field)

Spring time boat work underway. For starters.. adding more HP to our little welded skiff. We put a couple of break in hours on it this weekend chasing some goldeneye and bufflehead around a local lake. Cold and windy with no sign of human life is just perfect for us.

Training continues on the spring woodcock flights. WPG “Hobbs” at 2.5 years old doing awesome at sticking solid points and holding steady to flush. Today, I was lucky enough to see the bird holding tight and captured this short video clip. Pretty cool sequence!

One of the reasons I’m spending most my efforts nowadays chasing puddle ducks is this…. Behold…. Apple wood smoked mallards dusted with 5 spice and glazed with Japanese BBQ 🍗. A worthy pursuit and reward. Bon appetite!
