First Day of Pre-Season Wrestling Practice and our wrestlers killed it today! While we're missing a some of the football boys, we were thrilled to see some returning wrestlers and exciting new faces hitting the mat for our first practice.

The first day is always the hardest – your body is adjusting, everything feels tough – but as you get stronger and more conditioned, practice gets easier and so much more fun. We're proud of the effort and heart every single athlete brought today!

Back on the Mat! 💪🤼

We kicked off our first Open Mat session after a short break, and it was great to see a good turnout! Thank you to everyone who came out and put in the work.

We’re especially excited to see more girls getting involved as we continue to grow our girls wrestling program. The future is bright, and we’d love to have even more athletes become part of it.

Come learn, compete, get in shape, and be part of a great team. We’ll see you on the mat! 💥💪🤼‍♀️🤼

🚨 Open Mat Last Chance! 🚨

Open mat starts back up tomorrow June 21st! Join us in the middle school gym—your last opportunity until preseason practice begins September 1st!

Open to all incoming 6th–12th grade boys and girls, whether you’re new to wrestling or experienced.

We want to wish all students an awesome summer break! Enjoy the time off, stay safe, and make the most of it.

If you’re looking to stay active this summer while learning the sport of wrestling, basic fundamentals, or take your skills to the next level, come join us at our Wrestling Open Mats!

These sessions are open to all boys and girls entering middle school through high school — whether you’re brand new to wrestling or already experienced. Our goal is to help athletes build discipline, toughness, confidence, strength, conditioning, and have fun while working hard together. 🆓

Once a Pioneer, always a Pioneer. 🕊️❤️

This Memorial Day, as we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, the Gentry community holds our own especially close to our hearts.

Today, we honor and remember U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Benjamin Tuttle, a proud 2012 graduate of Gentry High School. Just one year after walking our halls, while serving his country in the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Nimitz, Lance Cpl. Tuttle passed away at the young age of 19. He was assigned to the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 323.

Benjamin was a teammate, a classmate, a son, a friend, and a true patriot. His page today still follows our Pioneers Athletics Page -- a proud member of our football, Gentry Pioneer Wrestling, and track and field teams.

His last Facebook post said this:

"Lots of love goes back home to my family, i miss all of you I should be home in October, i cant wait to see all of you, uncle mike we will have to go fishing, little brother we will have to hang out, and granny we will have to go out to dinner together, and as for the rest of the family, i cant wait to see all of you too. -- Love Ben"

We also want to honor and remember Private First Class David Mark Wieczorek, a Gentry High School graduate who gave his life while serving his country during the Gulf War (see more information about him in the comments). David grew up in our close-knit community, played on the Gentry Basketball team, and worked at the local IGA grocery store.

Known for his outgoing personality and sense of humor, he was a friend to many and represented the spirit of our town.

David enlisted in the U.S. Army with hopes of earning money for college and building a brighter future. During Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, he deployed to the Middle East in service to his country. On March 3, 1991, David was tragically killed on the battlefield.

Congratulations to all of our 2026 graduates! 🎓🤼

We want to wish all of our graduating wrestlers the very best as they begin the next chapter of their lives. Take the discipline, toughness, work ethic, and perseverance you’ve learned through wrestling and apply it to everything you do. We know each of you will go on to do great things.

Thank you for everything you have contributed to the Gentry High School wrestling program. You’ve helped build something special, and your impact will not be forgotten.
