The summer swim season is fast approaching, and we're excited to see you all again!

Our summer season will be starting on Tuesday, May 27th, and will tentatively run through Thursday, July 17th.

Practice Schedule for All Squads:
May 27th-July 17th
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6-7 pm
**No practice on 6/25 and 7/9

All squads, Bronze-Gold, will practice together this season. All practices are included in your registration; however, attendance is not mandatory, so please feel free to attend the days that work best for your schedules.

Swim Meets
Meet information will be sent out as it becomes available. Most meets this season will be optional invitational meets on the weekends that may have additional fees. Please be on the lookout for emails regarding these events and their registration. Participation in meets is voluntary.

Sign Ups
Registration for the Summer Season is now available online through your YMCA accounts. The cost of the season will be $110 for all squads and includes all 3 nights of practice per week. Please remember that your YMCA membership must be active in order to register for the swim team.

Just as in the winter season we are continuing our initiative to be an inclusive swim program that welcomes new swimmers to the sport and prepares them for competition, all the while honoring our commitment to YMCA values.

Today = Swim meet day = Outside pool day
The Gators went out to Penn Hills to swim at the SPY Long Course Meet today. Long course means the lane is not just 25 yards long, but 50 m. That makes a huge difference as the swimmers do not get as much extra boost from flip turns as they are used to and a lane might seem never ending.
Also, swimming in an outside pool could be a challenge, especially for backstroke swimmers who have to deal with the sun as well with the lack of orientation.
But the Gators did a fantastic job in this less familiar environment. Coach AJ Thomsen did also a great job coaching not just the four Gators but also helping out with the Seadragons from Sewickley.
Fortunately, even the weather was on our side, besides a few Thunder growls and some wind twirls the meet could take place as planned.
Again a wonderful swim meet with many new experiences! Good job Gators!

Hello Gators! It's time for Summer Swim! Take a look below for some important info for the start of the season.

SUMMER SEASON DATES: Monday, May 13 through mid/late July (summer Championship meet date TBD)

ORIENTATION: Saturday, May 11th // 12-1PM // Thelma Lovette YMCA

PRACTICE: Tiers (practice groups) are Bronze/Silver/Gold. This is a change from our former practice group names Tails/Claws/Jaws.
Bronze - M/T/W/Th - 5:45-6:30PM
Silver - M/T/W/Th - 6:30-7:45PM
Gold - M/T/W/Th - 6:30-7:45PM
*Tiers will be discussed at orientation. They are based on ability and swimmers will test into practice groups during the first week of the season.

SEASON FEE: Bronze - $150; Silver $175; Gold $175

*Starting this season, there is no longer a multi-child discount. The Pittsburgh YMCA has scholarship/subsidy options available based on financial need. Ask AJ for more information.


MEET SCHEDULE: There are no scheduled dual meets. There will be a few invitationals and a league-run Summer Champs meet in July, but any other meets will be organized between teams. Sewickley and Baierl have both invited us to swim with them. This will be a chill season and families will have opportunities to swim around their summer travel schedules.
