Fox River Trail Runners (FRTR) was founded in 1995 and is a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit Corporation whose mission is to promote running as a healthy lifestyle in the Fox Valley Region while also benefiting our community. FRTR hosts four races a year to benefit charitable causes and also provides weekly group runs, running-related educational and spring/fall race training programs, social events for runners, and scholarship opportunities for local youth. 10/11/2026 - RECAP OF FRTR AT THE CHICAGO MARATHON!

Last Sunday, Chicago's streets were filled with tens of thousands of runners, including a fantastic group from FRTR! Many gathered at the FRTR Hospitality Room before heading out to take on 26.2 miles through the Windy City.

🌞 The day turned out warmer than anyone would have liked for a marathon, but our runners pushed through and kept moving toward that finish line. 26.2 miles is no small feat, especially under a giant heat lamp in the sky!

🎉 A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to all our FRTR runners and everyone who conquered the 2026 Chicago Marathon! You earned every bit of that finisher's medal! 🏅👏🙌

10/17 FRTR Sat Group Run Recap

🥶 Fall running had a little extra bite this morning! It was a chilly start on the Fox River Trail, but that didn't stop our Saturday group from getting in some great miles! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

🍂 After the run, FRTR traded running shoes for work gloves at our Fall Trail Cleanup! A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who pitched in to help keep the Fox River Trail clean and beautiful for all who enjoy it! 👏

🏅 And GOOD LUCK to everyone taking on the Naperville Half Marathon, 10K and 5K tomorrow! Wishing you a great race and a strong finish! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🙌

FRTR Friday Focus - 10/16/2026

🍁 There's something about fall that makes you want to lace up and head out for a run. Maybe it's the cooler air. Maybe it's knowing that soon enough we'll be dodging ice patches instead of fallen leaves! Let's enjoy this sweet spot in the running calendar while it lasts! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️🙌

🕡 Time & Location: 7:00 AM at the Fabyan Windmill
1500 Crissey Ave, Batavia, IL 60510

👟 Route: From the Windmill, north around Mount Saint Mary Park/Rt 64 (6 mi - 7 or 8 mi) plus South to Batavia Loop (3 mi).

💧 Hydration: Water & Gatorade available until approximately 9:30 AM on the east side of the river near Mount Saint Mary Park and at the Windmill.

ATTENTION RUNNERS — LOCATION CHANGE AHEAD (10/14)!
Wednesday Evening Run Update!

Starting Wednesday, October 14, we’re shifting to our Late Fall/Winter spot — meet us behind BMO Harris Bank in downtown Batavia on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm.

We’ll head out along the Fox River Trail toward Geneva and back! As it will be getting dark sooner, bring your headlamp and reflective vest!!!

NOTE: As the winter months approach, if the trail is too icy or slick, no worries — we’ll switch to the streets. Rain, snow, or shine, the Wednesday miles roll on!

Chicago Marathon weekend is here! Good luck to all our FRTR runners and friends taking on 26.2 miles this Sunday! You've put in the training and done the hard work. Now trust that training, soak up the incredible energy of Chicago, and enjoy every mile. We'll be cheering you all the way to the finish line! 👟 Route: From the Windmill, south toward Funway, then branch onto the Batavia Spur out and back to the Windmill.

💧 Hydration: Water & Gatorade available until approximately 9:00 AM at the Windmill, and south by Funway (2.5 mi from Windmill). Those are the only two spots this time.

FRTR Sat/Sun Group Runs Move to 7:00 AM

Starting Oct 10, 2026 through May 9, 2027, our Saturday and Sunday group runs will begin at 7:00 AM.

Meet us at the Fabyan Windmill in Geneva, IL as we shift to our cooler-weather start time for Saturday and Sunday miles.
