Some beach… 🏝️ somewhere!

BREAKING: More high school athletes are pursuing beach volleyball scholarships instead of traditional indoor opportunities.

New programs.
More roster spots.
Growing demand.

Some coaches love the additional opportunities.

Others think indoor volleyball is losing talent.

What do you think?

Today’s Lessons focused on these things:
💜3rd-5th learning balance work while passing, staying forward with the pass, serving and setting in mid system (I didn’t talk with them about MS, but will address
It next time. Some other kids already know!)
💛6th-8th learned split step in defense, balance work, setting, moving arms outside of body
& shaping the ball 🏐
💜Private 1: worked hard on serve, balance work, setting work, and getting what you put out.
💛Private 2: worked hard on torque, on core snap, hitting both pins, and getting deeper & wider approach & right side swing (she killed it!)
💜High school: serve receive, dig defense with split-step, BSBH & reading in defense
Overall, a very productive day!

We have young athletes JUST LIKE HER!!
They keep showing up.
In the gym as much as they can be and we see the difference.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with the athletes we see throughout the year.
They keep showing up in a gym, whether it’s ours or somewhere else. They put in the work… and over time, we see it!!

HEY SPRING LEAGUE!
Due to LOW NUMBERs because we have vacations, sickness, church camp and overall exhaustion for many.
Let’s do the YOUNG GROUP (purple shirts) from 10-12
And the OLDER GROUP (gold shirts) 12-2pm.
We will Get a lot more scrimmage and game like stuff in. We just have rhe ONE court. So grace will be great and needed.
REMINDER WE ARE AT JASPER SCHOOL 😊

The amount of kids that have said to us in the recent few months “it feels good to be in an encouraging place… I can make mistakes… I love the positivity…”. There’s a problem in sports when kids can’t become confidant because they don’t want to make errors. Next Ball mentality will never work for kids until they can play without such extreme pressure.
We ALL want to win…
To think that we don’t is absurd.
But learning is KEY.
Are you improving?
Are you facing your athletic ceiling?
We will ALWAYS push for a win, but we are seeing kids top out because they are scared to perform.
So they stay stagnant.
I have found that people who complain the most do the least in the gym.
Excuses breeds excuses.
Get in the REPS!
If you’re not listening, you’re not learning.
Those who listen and change will eventually outplay those who don’t.
You are still developing as a D1 athlete.
Still developing as a D2, D3.. NAIA and JuCo .
Individual training is a necessity in every program.
Coaches MUST work with kids in their program with the philosophy of “every kid deserves to get my best… not just the ones that are natural athletes”.
DEVELOP OVER SELECT 💜💛
A coach friend said “Better the Ball” and yes, let’s do that.
BUT LET’s BETTER THE ATHLETE, TOO!
