It is always a pleasure to encourage our youth to participate in the outdoors and support the Annual Gatlinburg Kid's Fishing Rodeo Tournament! If you have children or grandchildren and are available on June 6th to take them fishing, there is still time to register!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Gatlinburg Sportsman’s Club, our biggest tournament donor for the annual Gatlinburg Kids’ Trout Tournament.

Yesterday, Kaden McLaws, treasurer of the club, stopped by to present a generous monetary donation that will help us purchase prizes for this year’s tournament. In addition to their financial support, the club also donated shirts, stickers, patches, and other items that will be handed out during the awards ceremony on June 6th.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of the Gatlinburg Sportsman’s Club and their commitment to helping make this event special for the kids and families in our community as well as visitors to the area.

We want to help support our local Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center, Inc. by bringing attention to this event. This is a great way to participate in an outdoor sportsman's activity and also fundraise for the treatment and services they provide local children and families.

The Club would like to send 2 teams to participate: if you are a Club Member interested in registering as part of a team, please reach out and contact the Treasurer to secure a spot. There are limited spots remaining - thank you

Last Saturday's work day was a success - Range #4 is now open!

Thank you to those who came out to help setup the steel targets and move/secure the covering!

This is another centerfire pistol/handgun range with the same rules and restrictions as range #3: No steel core/tipped, and no rifles/bottleneck cartridges or magnums with power factors over 200. For full details, refer to the Orientation document on our website to check if your ammo is safe to shoot here.

A huge thank you to the couple volunteers that came Saturday and installed these shelves at the new Reactive Range!

We also got more of our 'reactive' targets set up: dueling tree, poppers, the hostage/silhouette, and several sized static plates.

And a very, VERY important reminder, the steel on our reactive range is for "straight-wall" cartridges with a power factor of 200 or less ONLY. Most training ammo and pistol calibers fall into this category. Some rifles might be chambered in 9mm or .38 special, which is fine, but all other "bottle-neck" cartridges such as common 223/5.56, or Magnum rounds, are EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN. Some steel targets were repeatedly shot with rifle cartridges this month, resulting in completely damaged steel. Punctured/pitted steel can result in unpredictable ricochets and fragmentation. Anyone found intentionally damaging Club property will lose rights and access to the ranges, be responsible for the cost of replacement, and even be expelled from the Club. Please use the facilities responsibly.

Volunteers needed!

We could use some extra hands to complete the final touches on the recent range improvements made over the past few months. Tasks include attaching signs to the new coverings, setting posts into concrete, as well as moving some shooting steel and railroad ties into place. If you’re able-bodied and willing to help, please join us at the Treebeard Way property on November 8th at 9 AM. (See most recent email blast for more)

Here is the latest complete view of the #3 range, now known as The Reactive Range, with its new covering installed and a few steel targets placed. We plan to widen it in the near future to make room for more steel and shooters at a time

* PLEASE do NOT use steel tipped, Magnum, bottleneck/rifle cartridges, or other high powered ammo/calibers at this range - we have already observed damage to the steel, which is not cheap to replace. Thank you!
