Here’s how to make the most of your fall, to become the catcher you want to be in the spring. 📈
The fall has the potential to be the most valuable season of the year, if you use it properly.
You’re probably playing some games, but not as many (or as meaningful) as in the spring. This combination gives you more time to train, along with opportunities to apply and test your adjustments to see how they transfer to the game - an efficient feedback loop.
So whatever your goals are, whatever you need to improve so you’re the best version of yourself possible come spring time, USE THIS FALL to attack each of those areas.
Been wanting to try a new stance?
Now is your time to work on it. Rep it out in your training. Explore your options. Then rip it in game to see how it holds up and continue building your comfort and trust in it.
Want to throw harder?
That won’t happen overnight in January. Start that process now. Build arm strength. Move more efficiently in your throw. Give yourself the time it actually takes to make real gains.
Need to get better at handling velo?
Challenge yourself in your training now. Push the limit. Crank the machine up. Get uncomfortable. Do it until fast starts to look slow. Until you get comfortable being uncomfortable.
Need to improve your mobility?
Make it a daily priority. Even just a little bit of good mobility work, done consistently from now until spring, will make a big difference.
Whatever your goals are, they won’t happen on accident.
To become the catcher you want to be in the spring,
You’ll have to do what he would do today, in the fall.
