Lake was slick most st of the morning, water Texas 71 when I checked and partlcloudy. They didn’t keep them from chomping. They weren’t where I thought they would be but I found some nice ones anyway. Idle around graphing until you’re finding good schools of bait and then start looking for bass. They aren’t staying put very long but they will be back or close by as long as the bait is there. Tight lines !

No bigs today, caught close to twenty and I had to throw the drop shot to get them to bite. You see the thermocline is slowly dropping and this is leaving scum on the surface and trash on the bottom. Fishing a Texas or Carolina rig wasn’t working because they would trash up. Keeping the line tight with the drop shot kept my bait up out of the trash and presented a morning breakfast to the bass or so they thought. Water temperature was 74 degrees, slightly foggy and no wind early that broke of to a clear sky. Tight lines

"Back in May a dude from Ontario was cleaning up the yard and grabbed a rod that someone left laying. He didn't realize there was an unsecured hook at the end of the line. Ended up with a lens replacement surgery for his eyeball and now his vision is back to normal. - Shared by Steven Rinella

Morning started of really slow and it was a while before the fish became active. Couldn’t get a bite on the jig so ended up throwing the Carolina rig and catching twenty or so. No big ones today but glad I figured something out. The thermocline has dropped quite a bit which left a scum on the surface in the areas that have turned over already. Water temperature was 84 degrees this morning and 85 this afternoon. Bright and sunny most of the day with little or no breeze. The fish aren’t staying put very long and with cooler nights ahead the thermocline should continue to drop. This happening way earlier than the last few years but glad to see it go. Every year is a little different but seasonal patterns always come into play. It’s important to pay attention to what’s going on so you’ll know where to find them and then what to throw. Tight lines.

Went out this afternoon just to see what they were doing. I know it was very windy but Naconiche fishes good usually when it is. Caught 15 or so in a couple hours, no giants but I did get my 20 lb main line on my Carolina rig broke by a fish. Break offs are pretty common on Naconiche with all the heavy cover but it’s normally the leader that breaks seeing how I fish a 15 lb leader. Caught some on a big crank bait and the Carolina rig. I prefer a 5/0 Gamakatsu big turn hook. If you use a smaller hook be sure it has a heavy shank. If you don’t you’ll get your heart broke with a 3/0 for sure when it gets straightened out. That’s my tip for the week, tight lines!

Carolina rig and crank baits got it done today. Caught around fifty. The offshore bite is only going to get better as the thermocline continues to drop. Bryan caught fish and learned a lot. I just had to go out and see what the fish were doing this afternoon since this front passed through. The water temp was higher than I expected at 54 on the main lake. The upper arms were two to three degrees cooler. I found fish on the main lake but couldn’t entice a fish to bite. I located some in the mid lake area caught a nice one and lost another close to the boat after applying to much pressure and pulled the hooks free. The upper arm area I wanted to fish had a boat setting on the spot I wanted to try so I turned around and got outta there.

It’s always good to fish different kinds of weather to learn how the fish react to it. The fish were bunched really tightly together every time I located a school today. I threw the jig and flutter spoon with no luck. 10XD in their face got em. The school aren’t staying put long so you’ll have to troll around and relocate them to be able to make the right cast. Caught several nice chunks yesterday and some where really fat. I had Craig Haltom fishing with me and he never caught a fish smaller than three pounds. Even with the water temperature at 50* we caught them on the 6XD IN 12-18 ft. We even had some surface action with schoolers and caught one on the flutter spoon. Overcast skies, sprinkling rain off and on, a lite to no breeze and very stained water clarity had us throwing brighter colors. We caught 15 bass for our half day trip. Tight lines!
