WELL… THAT STORM DIDN’T STOP THE WALLEYES! 🎣

A cancellation opened up my day yesterday, so instead of letting a day on the water go to waste, I invited my friend Nichole Rose Huddleston along and decided we were going fishing! 😎

Mother Nature had other plans for the morning, though. We got hit with some heavy rain and a whole lot of thunder and had to sit it out for a while. But once that storm moved through, it was GAME ON!

Back on the water, back on the fish, and the BillyRub baits were getting it DONE!

There’s not much better than going from sitting on shore waiting out a storm to watching that rod load up and hearing “FISH ON!”

The weather made us wait for it, but the walleyes were worth the wait!

And the best part? Every fish went back to swim another day!

A canceled trip, a nasty storm, a pile of walleyes, and a darn good day on the water. I’d say we made the most of it! 😎

Had to sit out the storm this morning, which gave us a late start. We finally got back on the water around 11 and are putting a few Walleye in the boat! This is #2 for the day. Hopefully the bite picks up a little more as the afternoon goes on! 🎣

A Little Tackle Giveaway

Had the day off today, so I figured it was a good time to give the boat a good wash, get some things ready for the next few trips, tie up some more live-bait rigs, and go through the tackle.

While digging through my plastics, I realized I’ve got a whole bin full of stuff that doesn’t get much use anymore. Rather than have it sit around collecting dust, I’d much rather see it get put to good use!

So I’d like to give the plastics away to a young angler who could use them and have some fun catching fish with them.

And while I’m getting everything ready for the next trips, I also have a few guide trip openings coming up. I currently have August 28th, 30th, and 31st available, along with a few dates still open in September.

The walleye are still biting! And they sure seem to love the BillyRub Paddle Tails!

Had Garrett and Jessica in the boat today all the way from Colorado!

It was a little slower start for the walleye bite this morning after a storm moved through early. Then, just when we were getting into the groove, another storm rolled in around 10:30 AM, sending us to shore for about an hour while we waited it out.

Once we got back on the water, we had a couple more hours to fish and managed to put a few more walleyes in the boat. In the end, we were able to send Garrett and Jessica back to their cabin with enough walleyes for a great dinner, plus a bonus jumbo perch!

Not every day goes exactly as planned, but we made the most of the weather and still put some fish in the boat. Great having you both aboard—thanks for fishing with me!

A little slower start this morning with the storm that moved in early, but we managed to get a walleye in the box before the second storm rolled through. 🌩️🎣
We’ve got a lot of thunder and lightning in the area right now, so hopefully things clear up soon and we can get back on the water. We’ve already had a little action, so hopefully we can get back out there and keep working at them!

A couple of prime dates have just become available.

Due to a recent cancellation, this Friday the 21st and Saturday 22nd are now open for guided fishing trips.

Walleye fishing has been strong across several lakes in the Mille Lacs and Brainerd Lakes area, making this an excellent opportunity to get on the water and put fish in the boat. I can confidently say you will have a very strong chance of catching walleyes.

If you’ve been considering a trip, now is the time to book—these openings will not last long.

Mille Lacs Fishing Update

Mille Lacs is on fire right now, delivering steady action for walleye, perch, and smallmouth bass. Even the nearby smaller lakes are kicking out great walleye and bass fishing, so there’s no shortage of opportunities.
