🐶🏀 How do you bring the DAWG out of your kid?

You can’t manufacture competitiveness—but you can create an environment that brings it out.

Orlando Magic Assistant Coach Haseeb Fasihi breaks down what parents and coaches can do to help young athletes develop that edge, confidence, toughness, and competitive mentality.

🏀 Parents: Want to know if your child has elite potential?

It isn't about scoring the most points at 10 years old.

The athletes who eventually reach the highest levels usually share a few common traits: ✅ They love to practice—not just play games. ✅ They bounce back after failure. ✅ They ask questions and want to learn. ✅ They seek competition instead of avoiding it. ✅ They're coachable and embrace feedback. ✅ They show up consistently, even when no one is watching.

Your biggest role isn't creating pressure—it's creating an environment where they can grow.

Support their effort more than their stats. Praise improvement more than trophies. Teach discipline, responsibility, and resilience.

Remember: Early success doesn't guarantee future success, and being overlooked early doesn't eliminate elite potential.

The goal isn't to raise the best 12-year-old. The goal is to develop the best 22-year-old.

💬 Which quality do you think is most important for long-term success? Let us know in the comments.

According to KD's former trainer ... Elite players have an "Next Play Mindset" listen up closely for this gem

What people don’t understand… there was a time when strength & conditioning wasn’t respected

had to convince players it mattered. Convince parents it wasn’t a waste of time. Convince coaches it actually translated to performance.

Back in the 90s and early 2000s…
Lifting weights? “You’ll get too bulky.”
Conditioning? “Just play more basketball.”
There was no blueprint. No social proof. No Instagram trainers. No data-driven systems.
Just belief… and results.

Now?

Every serious athlete knows: if you’re not training your body, you’re getting left behind.
Respect the ones who built it when nobody believed in it.

🎯 This is what real innovation looks like.

This is the uncomfortable truth about becoming elite… and it’s not what you think.”If you keep playing against the same level…

you’re choosing comfort over growth.
Real hoopers don’t hide in easy runs.

They seek pressure, better players, faster pace, tougher buckets.

Because iron sharpens iron — and comfort kills progression.

You want to get better?
➡️ Go where you struggle
➡️ Go where you get exposed
➡️ Go where you have to THINK, not just react
That’s where the real development happens.

Average players look for wins.

Elite players look for environments that force evolution.

Most coaches stay “good” their entire career…
But ELITE coaches think differently.

I got the chance to learn from one of the best coaches in America—and it completely changed how I develop players.

This isn’t about drills… it’s about how you SEE the game, how you TEACH it, and how you build athletes from the ground up.
If you’re serious about leveling up as a coach or player… this is where it starts.

03/19/2026

When worked with Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, and Stephen Curry… it wasn’t about flashy drills.

It was about trust.

✔️ Understand the player
✔️ Bring real value
✔️ Protect their career

You don’t market your way to elite players…
You prove your way there.
