Formally established in 1981 and affiliated with USA Cycling, the national governing body for bicycle racing in the U.S., and the Texas Bicycle Racing Association, the Violet Crown is the oldest and largest bicycle racing club in Austin and one of the oldest and largest bicycle clubs in Texas. Most members reside in the greater Austin area or elsewhere in Texas. The Violet Crown is governed by a s

et of bylaws and overseen by a six-member board of directors. The club holds a registered trademark on its name issued by the U.S Patent and Trademark Office for cycling-related endeavors and is registered with the Texas Secretary of State and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501c(4) charitable organization.

Looking for some late season cyclocross practice? Look no further. Get ready for state CX champs at Dinocross in Austin on Jan 10/11!

Practices will consist of instruction for first time riders and open time on small practice courses where you can build and hone your skills between race weekends.

On 12/7 .on.wheels will host a clinic for women's riders. This is open to all WTFNB identifying riders.

Our women’s team went all-in for last weekend, with and representing Violet Crown across a wide range of disciplines! Their takeaway? “We just had such a damn good time!”

All three had incredibly strong results across both days of racing, with Emily taking 1st in her age group in the 100 mile ride and following it up with 2nd place in her age group in the 10k trail run the next day! Meanwhile, Becca and Andrea crushed the Cat 2 mountain bike, with Becca taking 2nd and Andrea 3rd! They kept up the strong performance in the 10k trail run, with Becca taking 3rd and Andrea finishing with exactly the same time—down to the second 😱

Join the Violet Crown Women's Team and club president David Comer for a pre-ride of the Oatmeal Classic State Road Race course. We will meet and begin the day at 7:30 at the Oatmeal Community Center.

This event is open to all and intended for new or beginning racers to familiarize themselves with the course, the venue, and get an opportunity to learn and practice some skills with the racers from Violet Crown.

We'll have some light refreshments and neutral water for everyone at the ride.

Expect to discuss the course and some top tips before heading out for a recon lap. On lap 2 we'll break into groups for some race simulation/drills. After that, you're free to stay for as many loops of the course as you like.

Come prepared with a bike in good working order and tools you need to be self-sufficient in fixing a flat tire or minor mechanical issues.

Please note, there will be no restroom access at the Oatmeal Community Center. So plan your trip up with a bathroom break if needed.
