For those who don't know what Camp Thompson is, we are a YMCA affliated resident camp established in June of 1926. During the summer months we run week long overnight camps where kids ages 6-14 get dropped off on Sunday and picked back up on Saturday. We are a part of the Pine Grove State Park\ Michaux State Forest in Gardners, Pennsylvania 10 miles outside of Carlisle, PA. Camp Thompson offers a
varitey of programs, and opportunities for all ages including L.I.T. (leadership in Training) for youth aged 15, this prepares them with communication, leadership, listening, and the teambuilding skills needed to give them the self confidence needed for their futures. This also educates them on what is expected of a Camp Thompson counselor. We also provide a C.I.T. program after the completion of L.I.T. which advances them to the next step of becoming prepared to be a counselor. We have seen many campers grow over the years from campers to L.I.T, C.I.T., Junior Couselors and Counselors. We want to continue this cycle and reach those who will be the future of Camp Thompson and its alumni.
