No, CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit. It is entirely and absolutely CrossFit geared directly at kids and their specific developmental needs. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Healthy living requires kids to push, pull, run, throw, jump, climb, and lift, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they participate
in athletics. Athletics is a specialized pursuit. Our goal is to support the specialist, but reward the generalist. This program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of their experience. In CrossFit Kids we scale load and intensity, we don’t change the program. The needs of a preschooler and high school football player differ by degree, but not by kind. CrossFit Kids is based on the principle of mechanics, consistency, and then intensity. CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance, and fewer sports injuries for children. In addition, a vast body of research indicated that exercise such as CrossFit is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on your child’s academic achievement.
