Thursday the 21st of December 2023 will be Epic Martial Arts last testing as we are closing the school by the end of this month.
We have been blessed to have been a part of the Gardner community, and your lives for the last 10 yrs. When we opened the doors in Gardner on November 4th, 2013, we did not imagine that we would have gained so many wonderful friends that over time have become family. We set out to make a positive impact in the community through martial arts and the interactions of our students and patrons. We called our journey “Gardner STRONG”, and helped our students find their hidden potential and strength. Our business philosophy revolved around our family’s love for each other and the benefits of being a martial artist, and it was all hands-on deck for our family for a decade as we were blessed to have had 4 locations: Gardner, Lenexa, Belton, and Raymore.
Our school’s name became Epic Martial Arts because our calling was to help people find a way to be their most Epic version of themselves. Our Foo Dog mascots embodied our personal approach to protecting our students. The boy foo dog protects the outside of the dwelling while the female foo dog protects the inside of the dwelling. This combination of protection spilled over everything we did for our schools and families. Along that journey we developed several programs to help our students excel while finding themselves in a safe place that made them feel that they belonged.
* “Breaking Barriers” is a program that helped students of Special Needs and their families overcome more than just the challenges of martial arts. We are proud to say that we had several students break through many barriers and 3 students became 1st degree Black Belts.
* “Epic Woman Kickboxing” was a class designed for women to learn self-defense with realistic usable movements that gave a great workout while providing several layers of self-empowerment mile stones. We were able to help many women that were either victims of abuse or never wanted to be a victim through this program. Many lifelong friendships have been forged through this class, and that warms our hearts.
* “Ninja Nights” was our Epic parents’ night out, and our favorite part was always at pick up time where everyone was involved in a massive Nerf War,
* Lastly, who could ever forget being a Black Belt for a day while cutting their birthday cake with a samurai sword on Birthdays!
We will never forget the kindness of strangers that became family and the many friendships forged along the way. We hope that we impacted your lives in a positive way, and you learned something valuable that helps you be your most Epic self.
