We are so sad to announce the 2021 race is cancelled. We realize this event brings value to the Florence community and offers an unforgettable endurance challenge. We are committed to its return next year, set for March 12, 2022.

January 30, 2021: We have been informed by Oregon State Parks that they have placed a moratorium on all event permits for the time being, which has forced the cancellation of the race. An email notification has been sent to all prospective race participants on this date.

The dog days of summer took us over to the coast for a long weekend, including some Siuslaw Dunes course scouting and touring Old Town in our home town of Florence. ⁣⁣

We were treated to constant swirling breezes and a rumbling ocean throughout the course runs. The Forest Service sign posts were a cozy reminder we were on the trail. We were stalked by soaring bald eagles, a curious coyote, several deer, some skittish bunny rabbits, then serenaded by a zillion frogs. So much beauty, isolation and wildlife out here!

Can’t wait to share this fascinating course with you all on March 7th (when the sand is nicely wet and tacky).⁣⁣

We plan to host a group run on the course in January, FYI.
