Still a steady stream of bikes to work on....just no time to post. This was an interesting one. Normally Shimano 105 11sp provides great shifting. However this bike has had a history of poor shifting. So we upgraded the shifters to new 105 and in the process, discovered some really tangled routing in the downtube. Best guess is it came this way from original assembly. It's very satisfying to solve allusive problems by simply taking the time to do what shops and factories can't afford to do.

This was a very fun build! Many of you know I love steel bikes, especially a vintage one! I look forward to more fun projects in 2025! Some ideas are already pouring in. Love installing and tuning 12 speed DI2! Upgraded this S Works from 11 speed DI2 to 12 speed. She's ready for the next fake race!

Thought I'd share this with my friends running 12sp DI2 setups out there. Not picking on bike shops, but.....this is the 3rd brand new bike where I found setup issues with the DI2. Shimano tech manuals are very specific on setting the travel limits and B tension which is different from the "old" way we used to do it with mechanical setups. DI2 derailleurs over travel when shifting to improve responsiveness. Misadjusted travel limits restrict this which puts stress and wear on the system.

After 5 brand new total 12sp DI2 installs over the past year and countless adjustments, I have gained alot of valuable experience and insight into these systems! My thanks to all who entrust me to build and work on their precious bikes. I'm happy to help anybody with their 12sp DI2 systems!

I'm losing count of the number of DI2 installs and conversions I've done! I'm obviously a big DI2 12sp fan. Today it's removing a mech 11sp with DI2 12 speed...on an old school bike not designed for DI2. I do avoid installing 11sp DI2 if I can help it. Too many wires and junction boxes.
