GCYAA volunteers built another fantastic float for this year’s Garden City Santaland parade. While we received the 1st ever “best overall float”, we did NOT place 1st-2nd-or 3rd from judges 🤔👎. Now we need your help to bring home the People’s Choice Award, for the first time ever. Please vote using the link below.

The People’s Choice Award is decided entirely by the community. Only floats that participated in the parade are eligible and all photos were taken during the event. The winning organization will receive a $500 dollar prize.

• Only one vote per person
• Share the link with friends and family
• Voting closes Friday, December 5 at 5 PM

CONGRATS to the volunteers of our association. Now let’s bring home the Peoples Choice Award for the FIRST time ever. We need everyone’s vote, including cousins aunts uncles. Share share share!

The 2025 version of the Downtown Garden City Santaland Parade was a huge success with some of the most amazing entries ever. Parade participants did a fantastic job embracing this year's theme, Holiday Screen Classics.

We have several awards to announce and one to still be voted on. First things first. The winner of the Best Overall Entry, as selected by OETV, is the GCYAA. The GCYAA built a huge Grinch float with the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who and Max the Dog. There were lots of entries to choose from, but congratulations to the GCYAA!

Still to come this week, the first, second and third place float awards and the People's Choice Award.

For the People's Choice Award, you can vote now at :

www.santalandparade.com/vote

The People's Choice Award will be chosen from YOU, the public. This contest was only open to entries that brought a float to the parade, the photos on the link were taken during the parade.

The winning organization will receive a $500 prize!

Only one vote per person, but don't hesitate to share the link with all of your friends.

Voting will close Friday, December 5th at 5:00 PM. The winner will be announced on Saturday, December 6th at 10am on our Santaland Parade page!

Time is running out. You have until this Sunday! Only 2 people have taken a test drive so far ☹️.

As we approach the City of Garden City’s annual Santaland Parade this Saturday, here is a history of GCYAA floats over the past 14 years. Note how many 1st places!! 🧡💙💚

While the GCYAA volunteers have build some FANTASTIC floats over the years we have NEVER won the “People’s Chojce Award”. Our float this year will not be as large and grand as in the last few years, but note our hearts and character are still within.

2011 - Golf Cart with I think Mike Collard Driving (he was GCYAA President then)

2012 - Can’t find any history

2013 - Santa’s Workshop, 2nd Place

2014 - Pop-em Sock em, Jack-in-Box, unknown placement

2015 - Pure Michigan, 1st Place

2016 - Gingerbread House, 1st Place

2017 - Story Book, 1st Place

2018 - Polar Express/Ugly Sweater, 3rd Place. 😡, this one stung. One of GCYAA‘s largest ever floats built.

2019 - A “miniature” duplicate of the previous year. Did not Place

2020-2022 - GCYAA chose to only walk in the parade.

2023 - Giant Tank, 1st Place

2024 - Giant Pirate Ship, 1st Place

2025 - TBA

As most know, the parade committee decides on the parade theme. For a float to be considered for placement it must depict the parade theme. This year’s theme was decided by Facebook survey, “CHRISTMAS SCREEN CLASSICS COME TO LIFE”

Let’s make sure and get the word out this year, so GCYAA takes home the people’s choice award.

The CYS Test Drive Fundraising Opportunity officially ends on Sunday November 30, 2025 or whenever the supplies are exhausted.

Visit https://www.gordonchevrolet.com/ to validate your test drive so sponsorship dollars can be provided to GCYAA on your behalf
