Goldfish Swim School - Waugh Chapel

Goldfish Swim School - Waugh Chapel Teaching kids how to swim is our passion! Goldfish is much more than a swim school. You feel it the moment you walk in. Something different. Something unexpected.

Goldfish Swim School – Waugh Chapel is a state-of-the art swimming facility dedicated to teaching children as young as 4 months old. It’s more than vibrant colors chosen to inspire kids. More than a curriculum crafted to not only teach kids to swim but also to build their character through guided play. More than a shiver-free pool heated to 90 degrees. There’s something more. Something beyond typi

cal. It’s passion. Not just a passion for kids or a passion for swimming…it’s a special passion for changing – even saving – lives by teaching kids to swim and be safer in and around the water. We use our holistic philosophy, The Science of SwimPlay®, to build life skills both in and out of the water using play-based learning in a fun and safe environment. In a class size of no more than 4 children to 1 swim instructor, children master the skills they need to be safer and confident in the water. Beginning as early as 4 months, children progress through a series of perpetual swimming lessons, graduating to higher levels of difficulty as swimming skills are mastered. Goldfish also offers special events like parties, Family Swim, accelerated Jump Start Clinics and our Goldfish Swim Force Team, catered to swimmers who have completed the Goldfish Pro Level. Goldfish Swim School – Waugh Chapel is proud to help teach the children of the great community of Gambrills, Maryland how to swim and be safer in the water. We encourage you to stop by for a tour of our facilities. We guarantee you’ll love it at Goldfish! To learn more, please visit www.goldfishswimschool.com.

“How do the different swim lesson levels at Goldfish actually work?”

If you’ve ever wondered how our swim lesson levels are structured, we’re here to help!

At Goldfish Swim School, our levels are designed to meet swimmers where they are, whether they’re just getting comfortable in the water or building more advanced skills over time.

Each level focuses on specific skills that help kids progress step by step, building confidence, coordination, and key water safety and swim skills along the way.

Swim lessons aren’t one-size-fits-all, and the right level helps set every swimmer up for success.

💬 Not sure which level is right for your child? Send us a DM, and we’ll help you find the right level for your child - no guesswork involved!

Happy Swim A Lap Day! 🏊

Whether it’s their first time making it across the pool or they’re building up their endurance, every lap is a sign of progress.

Swim lessons help kids build strength, coordination, and confidence in the water. One skill, one length, and one milestone at a time.

And while not every swimmer is ready to swim a full lap just yet, each lesson is helping them get there!!

💬 What’s a swim milestone your child is working toward right now?

“Why do we teach kids to jump in and turn to the wall?”

It might look simple, but this is one of the most important water safety skills kids can learn.

If a child accidentally falls into a pool, the most common response is to swim towards the first wall they see. The problem with this is that it’s often the farthest from them. By teaching them to jump in and turn to the wall behind them, we’re helping program into muscle memory that the wall behind them is the closest.

This skill teaches swimmers how to:
✔️ stay calm after entering the water
✔️ turn their body to find the wall
✔️ move to safety and get out

It’s not just practice, it’s preparation.

In the water, knowing what to do right away can make all the difference.

💬 Have you seen your swimmer practice this skill yet?

The third Star student of the month is small but mighty Miss Rylee who JUST graduated from Junior 3 to GLIDER 2! She's able to swim the entire width of the pool independently and sometimes even goes under the water!

You go Miss Rylee!

“How do kids actually build confidence in the water?”

Water confidence doesn’t happen all at once, it’s built over time.

For babies, toddlers, and young swimmers, confidence starts with feeling comfortable in the water and learning how to move safely with guidance and support.

Through consistent lessons, kids begin to:
✔️ gain real, repeatable water safety skills
✔️ show measurable progress from one lesson to the next
✔️ build confidence as they master new skills step by step

Each lesson builds on the last, helping swimmers grow more capable and confident step by step.

Because real water confidence isn’t given, it’s built through experience, repetition, and progress.

💬 What’s something you’ve seen your swimmer become more confident doing recently?

Swim lessons save lives. 🧡

It’s a simple message, but an important one, especially when we consider the tragic drowning statistics that remain true today.

Learning to swim is about more than just being in the water. It’s about building the skills that help kids stay safer. Skills like learning how to float, knowing to turn and move to the wall, and how to respond in an unexpected water situation.

These skills take time, consistency, and practice, but they make a real difference when it matters most.

At Goldfish Swim School, every lesson is designed to help kids build confidence, develop strong water safety habits, and become more prepared in and around the water.

Because progress in swim lessons isn’t just about what kids can do, it’s about what they’re ready for.

💬 What’s one water safety skill your child has learned that made you proud, or maybe given you more peace of mind?
