Galveston College welcomes coaching veteran Kelly Raines as the new head softball coach of the Whitecaps.

“Coach Raines brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience with the National Junior College Athletic Association and Texas community college softball to Galveston College,” said Dr. Myles Shelton, college president, in making the announcement.

Coach Raines has served as head softball coach at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas, since 2005. During her tenure, the Hawks had 16 years of 30 or more wins in a season, won seven regional championships and nine conference championships, and placed fourth in the 2015 national tournament.
