About Us
Though we at Fish Terror Baits make many items such as Finesse Jigs, Drop Shot Weights, Ledge Shaky Heads, Finesse Shaky Heads, and Football Jigs, one item created Fish Terror Baits: the Thundering Herd umbrella rig. Fish Terror Baits began making the Thundering Herd when we failed to find an umbrella rig catering to bass fishermen with multiple blades on each arm. Though it is
simple to find a number of umbrella rigs without multiple blades, none compare to the Thundering Herd in quality and fish catching ability. These components allow our rig to provide the flash and vibration needed to coax some of the largest fish in your body of water into not only chasing but biting. Each component of the Thundering Herd is made to mesh with one another to combine into an umbrella rig that cannot be matched for strength and longevity. As a result, these components are not chosen based upon price. Instead, the Thundering Herd’s Coastlock Snaps and rated at 60 lb test, the Thundering Herd’s wire is rated at 325 lb test, and the line tie is rated at well over 150 lb test. In addition, the wire on the Thundering Herd is hand bent and wrapped to provide the strongest possible connection between the Thundering Herd and the hook. This secures each fish with no threat of a simple weak shackle (like those used by inferior umbrella rigs) giving way. These components are chosen with fishermen and their wallets in mind. We at Fish Terror Baits have designed this lure to be used in conjunction with 65 lb test braided line. The use of 65 lb test braided line allows the Coastlock Snap to fail prior to losing your $20.00 lure. Instead, you would lose a single snap. As a result of the forethought that went into each and every lure, the Thundering Herd can be thrown into brush piles or any other location that could house the fish of a lifetime without fear of losing an expensive lure. In fact, this lure has withstood and will continue to withstand the rigors of 35 lb striper, 8 lb largemouth, wooden fish cribs, hydrilla, milfoil and hundreds of brush piles. Our rig has gained a cult like following in Middle Tennessee and for good reason. The Thundering Herd’s head is constructed from impact resistant resin (not lead), premium snaps, stainless steel 325 lb test wire, premium blades and swivels, and each bait is hand panted to an ultra-lifelike appearance. The Thundering Herd comes in three (3) separate colors: 1) Tennessee Shad; 2) Blue Chartreuse; and 3) Lime Shad. The Thundering Herd can be Ordered in a multiple of configurations: 1) 5 arm no blades; 2) 5 arm, 4 blades; 3) 5 arm, 8 blades; 4) 5 arm, 11 blades; 5) 3 arm no blades; 6) 3 arm, 3 blades; and 7) 3 arm, 6 blades. Each rig can be made with nickel, gold or a combination of blade colors upon request. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mike at: 615-969-1990.
